But as far as I am aware it's just the signing on fee the rest comes from players wagesI'm guessing, but I think the signing bonuses are where the ridiculous numbers come from. The club is paying agents for persuading the player to chose that club rather than advising their client on their best interests.
If agents don't get paid by the club for new contracts, then there is something dodgy going on at Spurs.
this is a sensible change:
"Crucially, if agreed, all agents fees will be paid over the course of a player's contract - avoiding the payment of lump sums to agents on completion of a transfer or new contract. The aim is to reduce the number of players looking for regular transfers and dissuade less reputable agents from moving their players on as early as possible."
