American politics

He's already talking about cancelling the elections. You know he'll try it.

I see another GOP congressman has popped his clogs and with MTG retiring, that leaves their majority quite small now. I think Dems need two more to take the house.
edit: actually it is 5 .....boo
They'll take it in November. Hopefully they'll have the balls then to block everything that Trump is doing. The worry is what he'll do before November.

AI is the race and focus of making America Great Again.
To win that they need the minerals to run AI data centres.

They tried to get them from Ukraine in term 1 as part of a peace deal. Zelenski stood up to them and they didn't get it, but got drawn into an impossible round of peace talks.

Canada - has abundant mineral; needs to become the "51st state".

Venezuela - has abundant minerals; needs a "regime change"

Greenland - abundant minerals; needed for defence, despite already being available for defence.

The next phase:
Europe issues hands off warning - done.

The war of words will continue - MAGA-US saying they need it for defence. Europe saying you already have it.

The inevitable breaking point of Denmark saying to the US that rhetoric is not longer acceptable and the free reign to position troops is now conditional and needs Danish or NATO sign off/scrutiny.
MAGA-US then declares that's against NATO principles. A further back and forth of words, culminating in MAGA-US withdrawal from NATO and invasion of Greenland - probably July/August.
It needs Congress to sign off on any war so hopefully that will put a stop to it, but with Trump I wouldn't place on bets on him going ahead no matter what anyone else says.

Venezuela are not going to threaten the US. That is ridiculous. It's oil and the petrodollar driving this, not weapon production.

And if you haven't noticed Russia is not really an adversary to the US anymore. That would be Europe, bizarrely.
Venezuela are not, but Russia, Iran and China would all very much like to.

It would be foolish to allow any of them control of a country that close.

Well seeing how Russia is bogged down in the Ukraine war currently, and coincidently the same for Iran's drone program, then I would not hold your breath for either happening. Though tbh the Pride line just reads as a cheap dig, which says more about your attitude than about Venezuela, Russia or Iran.
It does and with very good reason.

I don't think it should be all that hard to be not on the side of Russia/China/Iran.

It’s not an unambiguous right when it’s done without congressional approval and in violation of international law.
Furthermore they appear to have no plan for the aftermath of deposing Maduro with multiple conflicting statements.
The precedent this sets for other despots to undertake similar actions eg china and Russia greatly increases the risk of accelerating towards world war 3.

All in all it was a very risky, deeply questionable move but that’s not unexpected from this administration
I'd argue (as will the US, I'm sure) that as a dictator, and not the elected leader of a country, Maduro isn't afforded the protection that political leaders are in international law.

An unambiguous right lol. You can make statements like this online but everyone reading needs to know this is one of the most simplistic and low IQ take on morality seen on GG. And rights are moral. Unambiguous means what it means. Neither of those words apply here. It's a complex and nuanced issue. And it is definitely not morally binary.
Are you seriously arguing for not removing someone like Maduro?

Have a read up on him and then tell me how you're going to defend that opinion.

It does and with very good reason.

I don't think it should be all that hard to be not on the side of Russia/China/Iran.
Who is on the side of Russia/China or Iran? That's just a lazy deflection from what I'd said prior imo.

Facts are the Venezuela isn't threating the US, nor is it capable to do so, and there are no fantasy plans to host some Russian or Iranian military base/hardware.

This simply is about resource control and geopolitical influence - something which the orange orangutan has telegraphed for months and continues to do so.
