In your opinion*

Yeah. Very much a lefty viewpoint...

...BTW, if you're referring to the homeopathic hippy-driven '70s vaccine skeptics, they weren't specificallty vaccine skeptci, they just didn't believe on western medicine. Libertarians were also a major part of the anti-vaccine school. Both came from different perspectives. BTW, if you understood hippy culture, you'd know it was based around self-consciousness and individual freedom/escape. As I told you, I grew up with hippy parents.

I actually liked Fauci during Covid and generally felt that he was doing his best in an incredibly difficult and unprecedented situation. I don’t think he was acting maliciously, and I respected the fact that he was trying to give people guidance during a frightening time. That said, I think some of the policies he supported turned out to be mistakes, particularly prolonged lockdowns, school closures, and some of the broader restrictions that had significant social, educational and economic consequences. In hindsight, I think there should have been a greater willingness to acknowledge the uncertainty in the evidence, consider the wider costs of restrictions, and adjust policies more quickly as we learned more about the virus. I can respect Fauci’s intentions while still believing that some of the decisions made during Covid were wrong.

He also explicitly wrote about his extraordinary new level of fame in his diary and described himself as potentially one of the most recognisable people in the world. I’d argue that as evidence that he became preoccupied with his celebrity.

A balanced viewpoint with clear discussion available if desired. I don't agree with everything, however that is not the point. Bravo!

I think the ultimate question was how aware Fauci was on some of these policys would be and were being implemented.

If 6 feet apart was just a guideline with no real scientific thought behind it, once you start seeing people being arrested for not adhering, you has the person that ultimaltey came up with that policy should be willing to step up and speak out against that.

Fauci did NOT come up with that policy. It came from the CDC, not the National Institutes of Allergies and Infectious Diseases.

I think Fauci was wrong to say it 'sort of came up' as a number. There was a clear reason 6ft was originally chosen.

Personally, I did what was requested generally and applied my own common sense i.e. when on a woodland path with no-one around, I did not wear a mask. When on that woodland path, if someone came by I'd put my mask on out of courtesy. When in stores I would wear a mask and try to keep distance, again to support the idea of social mandates. Despite my own (frankly ignorant!!!!) feeling that it was just a very a strong flu, I simply did not know enough to challenge my own assumptions with anything resembling fact, so I made a choice to listen to specific health bodies and experts. I put my trust in the CDC.

Ultimately the world over implemented these guidelines, witch hunting one guy for it seems like its just that

All very sensible and to my mind that's how it should have been.
Listen to the advice and tailor it to your situation.
Personally I'm of the opinion that once the momentum of the panic (media and social media went into hyper drive) was started it was recklessly fed instead of being handled in an organised and proper manner.
I can only talk about what happened in the UK, I had no interest in what was happening outside of here, I was working and dealing with my mum last few months of life.
But as I say the UK handled it very badly imho.

He came up with them, governments went over the score in implementation of them, that's not his fault.
I don't buy the over implementation as a "control" conspiracy either, I suspect that as each government went slightly harder another one went slightly further and it turned into a snowball that they lost control of.

I don't believe in the whole conspiracy theories we saw that at the time, that this was about control and power. I think this was about under cooked governments who were unprepared the world over who had to take modelling and guestimates on what was a real and scary outbreak. I posted the video recently about the start of it in Italy and you could see, this sh1t was real. I just think they did alot because it was also an unknown.

I think we saw signs near the end of how it was managed better, with vulnerable being protected and people being able to go back to work, I think that was a sign of learning more about stuff as we went along.

I think this attack speaks more about people either expecting people to know everything, which a realistic person knows they don't or its politically motivated, either way this Fauci stuff seems in poor taste from the outside.
