Perfect end to the season would with EL win, CL qualification, ange and son can go on their merry ways without any rancour and we move on.

It is dispiriting for the fans, but I can’t imagine how bad it must be for the players. They are playing in a system that they know is flawed. They know, because it has happened repeatedly, that they can dominate games but one mistake anywhere on the pitch that concedes possession is likely to lead to a counter where, unless our two defenders are perfect, will probably lead to a gilt edged chance. That has to mess with your head and ultimately demoralise you.

As an aside, Kane/Son from the Mourinho/Conte eras would have feasted on our current team.
