And they created loads of great chances.

It wasn’t luck, I don’t believe there is any such thing in sport.
I think this is what makes Ange such a polarising character. For some unknown reason he's developed this cult-like following among a section of the fan base that engage in the most tortuous defences of him imaginable......I actually think Chelsea not being able to work out Ange's tactical genius high line whilst only trashing us 4-1 on our own patch.....is a new low for them....

I was responding to your use of the word "turning point". So we lost 4-1 at home to a shocking side? Sounds about right....

And I was talking about you calling it the game where teams worked us out
Your wrong
If they worked us out they would have done what teams did who were smart
Play deep and counter
They didn’t which is why they were poor

I’m not defending Him
I’m highlighting that ain’t the game that things changed
It was later than that
A good side who had found us out that day would have got 7 or 8 against 9 men

I was at the game and even before we went down to 10 men Chelsea were carving us open. If I remember rightly they had 2 goals disallowed 11v11 for marginal offsides plus a lot of other chances too.

No way Chelsea played bad in the game. They started off slow but they quickly grew into the game and looked dangerous every time they went forward, even when it was 11v11

I’d love to think it’s midfield protection that’s missing but that wouldn’t caveat for the mistakes they are making. These aren’t high pressure mistakes imo. They are sheer incompetence/ignorance of how to do the most basics things
If you don't drill defensive work laxness creeps in. The reason the great defensive teams are that is because they drill that work consistently and the players know how to react in as many situations as possible.

We are the opposite so the players are doing whatever it is they think is right. That's not the point of coaching, coaching is supposed to mould your players into playing your system effectively.

I do agree that our defenders are overrated but they are better than what we see under Ange.

They've been playing together recently and both look completely hopeless together. Unsure why Danso who looked so promising has been dropped in favour of Romero and not reinstated following pathetic mistake after pathetic mistake by Romero....
My only issue with your comments are that they seem borne out of a bitterness of Romero potentially leaving because let's be honest VDV has been no better and is often worse in basic defensive situations but your focus is only on Romero....

No, I'm not bitter about Romero leaving, he'd do well to go and play in a system that suits him at a better run club that will allow him to showcase his talents. I'm talking about the fact that Danso was dropped despite looking really solid and has not been given a start since despite Romero's poor form. Danso plays in Romero's position and role, I.e. the more proactive blocker rather than the "sweeper" so for me he should be starting on form.

Agree
But league man is a player decision
Rushing out to hack down a man is a player decision
Going CF then jogging back is another decision
Not jumping….
The hug line and offside thing is tactical
Leaving the back post free must be too because it happens all the time
But I do not believe the tactic is to not mark anyone at any point

Danso was injured
He has only just come back and we never were told what the injury was
For me Danso looks a better defender

We had the son goal disallowed for a marginal offside before they scored s and dier had one later when w ed had 9 men
Sterling had a clear handball goal
And Caicido had one for offside which they actually got the penalty and red card for
They had another later in the half from Jackson but he was well off
After that James elbows Udogie and somehow wasn’t red carded

Like I said we may spend lots of money these days but it’s not buying players that are ready to go. We buy players of a certain profile which suits levy. Levy has done great to get us where we are but he needs to go and give the club to someone who is hungry for success on the pitch rather than being smug about making lots of money.

We don’t spend money to back the current manager, rather long term values etc. Waitrose money spent at Lidl.
Smug no honest who is going to do better with the same situation or have we found a money tree

All player decisions yes but in a well drilled system the players aren't making arbitrary decisions, they doing what the coaching system has laid out to them. So they will know when to hack and when not to, they will cover the back post etc but we clearly don't work on these features so we see the same mistakes game after game.

I don't think this is really accurate, i think we have bought a good mix of players over the last 3 seasons, you need a blend of 1st team ready and younger players otherwise you end up with a lopsided squad. We also have/had an issue with not enough club and home grown players through not buying enough youngsters from the latter Poch era onward that has needed addressing.

It's only really Bergvall & Gray that stand out as particularly young players - perhaps the fact they came in during the same window is skewing perception

It's almost parody at this point.

I don't think I've disliked a manager more. And that's going back 35 years.
Same

It's his arrogance that gets me.

If we somehow luck our way to the Europa league he will make out he is a good manager.

The league form is relegation form in normal seasons. Don't know how he has not had the self respect to walk away.

We aren't winning anything under this clam.

If we get past bodo/glimt I cannot see us beating either of the other 2.

He's talking a bit of bollox in this interview. Not sure if I like it or not.

3 games to become a hero that you probably never liked? A bit like Hangman in Tom Gun: Maverick.

I mean why reopen old wounds again re the Emirates Marketing Project game last season? If he STILL doesn’t understand why the fanbase was conflicted about winning that game then he really is too thick to be a football manager. He managed Celtic ffs! You’d think he would get how rivalries work.
