Another shooting in Murica

So a black pilot flying the plane you’re on would make you uncomfortable?
That's one where I did watch the bigger context.
So, if a specific DEI recruitment policy was in place on the airline, then I'd have a minor concern.

Well, the killer seems to have been caught. Let's see how the society plays this out. The podium talk right now is interesting.

That’s not what I asked

There has never been a reported, proven case where a DEI initiative put an unqualified person into an unsuitable position. That isn't what DEI ever did.

It provides opportunities to qualified (or the ability to get qualified) people where bias, biogotry and hate prevents them getting a fair selection.

The most obvious example of an unqualified person being given an opportunity beyond the qualifications or abilities is, somewhat ironically, Taco, the Tango Mussolini.

Saw the press conference about what was engraved on the bullets. I mean… these are children, with guns, carrying out these acts because they’re terminally indoors on social media and not actually living life. Getting sucked up into all this left wing/right wing, pick a side and no one’s allowed in the middle crap.

One bullet had “if you read this you are gay LMAO” and another had a set of arrows, which is apparently the combination of buttons for an air strike on a video game…. If that doesn’t sum up how fudged society and kids are these days… this child is writing video game directions on a bullet before popping it in a rifle and publicly shooting someone to death. Like it’s a big joke and a big game.

This world is in some seriously dark places.

In a country where Alan Shepard's most trusted "computer" was a black woman not allowed to use the bathroom in the same building as them well into the 60's, you would probably think that DEI could be a good idea. As you say, DEI was a measure to AVOID the things they claim it enables. Giving a person the opportunity despite who they are, not because of it. The scary part is the amount of MAGA DEI-opposing women with amnesia who probably miss being pinched in the ass at work, if they were even allowed to work and not told to shut up and get back into the kitchen. Fun fact: in Switzerland, not exactly what you'd call a banana republic, women weren't allowed to vote until 1971, and in Liechtenstein not until 1984 (according to Wikipedia).

Still, even in so-called progressive Norway, having a "too foreign" name has been admitted to reducing your chances for even an interview in the private sector, regardless of your qualifications or proficiency. Better with an underqualified Ola than an overqualified Ahmed for some, I guess. This is what I was talking about making things impossible to discuss, when the sides cannot even agree on what DEI *means*.

Well it means giving unfair advantages to black and brown people doesn’t it? [Sarcasm in case not clear]. I suspect that many people do not even know what the initialism stands for.
Diversity is not limited to just ethnicity or skin colour. It includes age, sex, educational background, disability etc etc.

One side doesn't want to know what DEI means or what effects it has. It's just a propaganda tool.

LET'S GET RID OF RAMPS FOR PEOPLE IN WHEELCHAIRS. THIS IS MY MAIN POLITICAL AGENDA FOR SOME REASON.

Just another in the line of critical race theory, woke, identity politics, cultural marxism, social justice warrior etc.

Can't wait to see what they come up with next. I'm sure it will be a good one.

I don't know the context of all of them, but one of the ones about Islam, possibly the gun violence one and the Nuremburg trial one.
So you agree that black women don’t have the brain processing power to be taken seriously; that “blacks” “prowl” for fun to target white people; that a woman should submit to her husband; that it is OK to make a 10 year old give birth after being raped?

Edit : in fairness the last one was a ridiculous scenario really. Lets imagine it referred to a 14 year old.

It's an American things isn't it? The British version is E&D. For that reason anyone using DEI here I immediately assuming is an imported culture warrior

In my whole life the only time I think I've ever seen one real case of "unfair advantages to black and brown people" (compared to the usual disadvantages the system throws against them), which was Raheem Sterling inexplicably getting in the England side for so long.

Possibly. When I was working it was for large global US companies so I am familiar with the DEI terminology. I assumed it was the same across the board these days.
