I think our lads should be watching Atletico and seeing what happens when you put in the work. Obviously they are, but Atletico really are the model that we should be admiring.
Your having a laugh if you think any club in the world would sell a player for 80 odd million and insert a buyback clause for half the price! I agree that eventually he will be driven out the door when the latest fashionable player comes a long but think that'll be in a few seasons yet and that £40m wouldn't even come close.
Besides, even if we could get him for £40m his wages mean there's no chance we could ever afford him till he's in his 30's.
Atletico are everything that is wrong with football. Club in a huge debt happily being used as a shop window by super agent Mendes. Absolutely disgusting that a club is allowing itself to be run by an agent for his benefit.

Benzema, therefore, has proven to be the most popular member of Madrid's frontline; a stat which will surprise many given Ronaldo's previous success at the club.
- Gareth Bale should be dropped, say 46.1 per cent of fans polled
A staggering 32.2 per cent of Real Madrid fans would drop three-time Ballon d'Or winner Cristiano Ronaldo, according to apoll in Spanish newspaper AS.
On a weekend that saw Real Madrid lose their grasp on top spot in La Liga for the first time time since November, fans of the Spanish giants have had their say on the team's current predicament.
Supporters were first posed a question regarding formation, and an incredible 92.1 per cent of fans called for Carlo Ancelotti to ditch his current tactics and revert to a 4-4-2 formation.
That would mean one of Madrid's impressive front three, the so-called 'BBC' of Gareth Bale, Karim Benzema and Cristiano Ronaldo, would need to make way.
In the poll, Bale, who has been jeered on a couple of occasions despite his impressive start in the Spanish capital, was top of the pile, while Ronaldo was second.
Bale picked up a worrying 46.1 per cent of the votes, while Ronaldo would be dropped by 32.2 per cent of supporters.

The way they got themselves into debt can of course be questioned. But the job Simeone is doing right now with a very limited budget seems very good to me.
Where they are now (debt, second tier tv-deal etc) they have to look for whatever value they can find. They got a couple of excellent years out of Falcao for example, it's hard to say that this is wrong.
which is ironic as he's been their best player for quite some time
It's morally wrong letting themselves be used as a shop window by a super agent who controls most of the big transfers in football.
And long term how are they going to build a team when they don't own these players they have.
Also they still have to pay wages to the players Mendes has parked there. Wages they can't afford.
Fixed it for youThe same Ronaldo who's averaging more than a goal per game in his 283 games for the club, including 39 goals in 37 games this season. The 2013 and 2014 Ballon d'or winner.
There are no words to describe the incredible stupidity of these 78,3 percent of the "supporters".
Depending on the Wage / Turnover with the Champions League money they are getting year on year / the increased crowds / increased merchandising and increased sponsorship - just no money on player sales (most don't)And long term how are they going to build a team when they don't own these players they have.
