Anyone remember that Bale chap?

You have to wonder what political machinations are going for Marca to 'expose' Bale's possible injury.

Being a Madrid mouthpiece you'd expect them to cover it up at least (if it's true). I wonder if their sports editors are really trying to turn the screw now they see Ozil and Higuain performing so well elsewhere.

In fact, could it be that they have found some kind of 'new' evidence that Perez is doing a 'Glazer' with Real Madrid in his general financial dealings and they now want to get rid of him?:-k

oh they definitely want him out, I expect part of them pushing the bale story so much in the summer was so they could crucify him if it didn't happen

Perhaps the "now or never" stuff was truer than they imagined. Still, yeah, hard to believe Marca would ever print something that wasn't entirely gospel, Flo. I'm as gobsmacked as you, son.

Any club would give a player who's cost as much, or half as much, maybe even quarter as much, as Bale a season at the very least to settle in even if they wern't producing their best form.

But this is Real Madrid we're talking about. The way I see it Bale has 2 or 3 more games to turn it around otherwise he'll be cast on to the bench where he'll be given the odd 10 or 20 miniutes to turn it around. If he doesn't manager too after a few sub apperances, he'll be cast into the reserves and never heard of again. Just like Kaka.

Welcome to Real Madrid. They'll love you if your expensive and glamarous but if you don't hit it off straight away your despised and hated. Fickle bunch of idiots.

He has one league start and one league sub appearance so far. He's even scored a goal.

No doubt Real Madrid are about as impatient as a club can be, but I think he'll get significantly more time than that.

And, if Bale is as smart as he thinks he is, he'll be self-learning Spanish whilst he is out injured. That will give him the chance to adapt more quickly to the country. So when he returns, he is more fluent in Spanish and can let his football then join the conversation.

Among the coaching staff, yes he will be given time to acclimatise and will get a fair crack at the whip. Among the fans he'll get very little leeway. 2-3 games might be a small exaggeration but unless he turns in at least one excellent performance in the next 3-4 games they will be howling. It's the way they are, and on top of that I think the generally consensus among the masses was that he was overpriced to begin with. The whole selling of Ozil thing is another blot on his ledger albeit not one of his own doing.

If 2-3 games is a small exaggeration how many games do you think it will be before he's cast onto the bench?

I think that depends on how he deals with pressure from the fans/press.

If his first game back isn't great, they will start to get restless and he will know about it. If he doesn't have the mental strength to push through that and pick his form up it could be a downward spiral.

I'm sure the coaching staff will show more faith in him. I'd guess they'll give him half a dozen games to find form before benching him. I actually think he should go straight to the bench now and be eased into things, but that is not the Madrid way.
If the fans don't see something positive in the same time frame then the dye will be cast.

My own prediction is that Bale will not make it over there. Irrespective of his form he will not be the focal point of their attacks and will end up a peripheral figure by season end.

Anyone remember how long Kaka actually got before getting benched?

Some stats here: http://espnfc.com/player/_/id/21364/?cc=5739

He got 21 league starts and 7 CL starts in his first season with 4 sub appearances in the league and none in the CL.

No unused sub stats there, I'm thinking he wasn't an unused sub in a ton of those games and that quite a few of the games missed were due to injuries?

Di María giving Bale a run for his money

Ángel Di María has done it again. 'El Fideo' lit up another game, with his goal, his enthusiasm and the way he breathes intensity into Ancelotti's team.

"We played a great game, which is what the coach wanted. We tried to do the best we possibly could against an opponent which was on a good run. We've continued to do a good job and we're developing as a team," said Di María.

The Argentine's superb performances have earned him a rightful place in the starting eleven. Ancelotti is delighted with his work rate and his goals.

Di María came out more focused than anyone after the break, unleashed a venomous cross-shot and there was nothing Caballero could do to stop it. He came off to a standing ovation in the 80th minute. He is certainly making life difficult for Gareth Bale

Amazing story this from Marca hahaha

Bale: "I'm looking forward to our next two big games"

With the match in added time, Bale went down in the box and Ronaldo sealed the win by converting the penalty. "I'm looking forward to our next two big games," Gareth Bale said.

I wouldn't say it was a dive per se, as he looked a little off balance and there was a tiny bit of contact, but it was no pen.

This is the same Di María that a lot of supporters didn't think was good enough for us (when mentioned as part of the deal) .. Absolute joke..
