Bale doesn't seem up for the physical battle, the ball won't stick with him. You can see us being able to keep the ball in the final third if he does this. It's Vinnie or bust.

Vinicius has played 24 minutes in the league all season. He is not ready to start on Sunday. I agree with @Bedfordspurs it will be Bale and I think that he looked quite good when he moved more centrally against Wycombe

He's only played 24 minutes because Jose hasn't given him minutes when he's had the chance. Thats poor management it has to be said. You have a backup striker for situations like yesterday but if you haven't got that player up to speed then what was the point exactly?

I believe yesterday the intention was for son to play as the 9 and lamela to play as the 10. So son is the back up for Kane as we have seen before (and know works). But lamela was all over the place in more ways than one and son was kinda invisible

Considering we know Pool play the intensive press that setup for the 2nd half was poor. Lamela holds on to the ball for too long and his pass execution is poor meaning Son never even got a sniff of the ball. We needed a physical presence who might be able to hold the ball up to beat Pool's press as we clearly weren't going to play through it with moving Ndombele further forward. A confused set of decisions it has to be said.

I would never play lamela anymore
He is one of the old guard I’d love to see home and swapped for some pace and energy
But I get the intent of the sub
Holding the ball up is great if you have players supporting
To do that we would need support wide and our full backs that we had second half don’t tend to do that, but that’s a different issue
Maybe he doesn’t fancy Vinny yet

I agree that it is poor management. He has also set us up so that we are completely dependent on star players, without them, I think that the impact will be greater than with a "systems" manager.

This next month will be a real test if he's anything more than a cheque book manager. I fear that he will set us up even more negatively to get through it.
 
Can't see anything changing for a couple of seasons. Levy loves Jose.

We need a shakeup from the top down and a descent scouting/director of football department.

It will never change till the club does. Let's start by at least getting a better manager.
