Christian Eriksen

Would absolutely love us to sign Eriksen.
The biggest problem with our midfield over the last few seasons in my opinion is the amount of touches they all have on the ball before moving it on. Nobody every plays 1 or 2 touch. Look at the best teams and their middle men move the ball quickly and efficiently. Recently we have had Pogba, who likes to try to beat a man before playing his pass, Matic who takes 4 touches to turn with the ball, Fellaini - say no more - and Herrera who was the master of passing back to the center halves.

Eriksen would go a long way to speeding up our defence - attack transitions. Very clever player who is always in space and uses the ball positively more often than not.

My dream signing if i am honest.

The above is one of the quotes from Redcafe and is the biggest reason we should NOT sell Eriksen to Utd, the poster has hit the tickle my balls with a feather and is right about what Eriksen would do for Utd. Selling to Utd would be madness.

I wouldn't be surprised if this is Levy playing bricks and giggles, in light of the fact that United leaked earlier this week that they don't like being a name for leakers to be leaking about to drive up interest.

This makes not a jot of sense to me, other than in a way of getting some money for Eriksen before his contract is up. I don't see why Eriksen would go. Not because United won't have a plan to get back to the top after so much failure. Not because I don't appreciate they'd offer some big wages, but quite simply he can wait a year and have his pick of the clubs and a fat sign on fee. Why commit to United rather than seeing what the market will be for you in free agency?

I think we are trying to force Madrid's hand before the English deadline. If Eriksen went there my opinion of him would just drop completely. He's smarter than that.

But Madrid normally leak if there after anyone and there has been nothing at all around Eriksen

So maybe we are leaking hard and strong to really flush it out?

I can see Madrid making a move after the deadline to try and force our hand. I can see Levy trying to get them to move beforehand by floating United as a seriously interested party.

I just can't see why Eriksen would want it, or why we would choose to strengthen a rival for a knock-down fee rather than get another season out of him.

Only way it makes sense is if Poch thinks Eriksen won't put the maximum in this year if we keep him, and would rather get him out regardless of where he goes. But I think it's more likely that Madrid will try and force our hand after our deadline closes, and that's why they haven't leaked aggressivley, they know they don't need to in this situation and would prefer to make us sweat.

I agree wholeheartedly with this. A move to United makes no sense on so many levels.

I think Eriksen's getting a lot of unfair sh!t for his comments earlier in the summer too. He’s always struck me as a fairly honest lad. Off the top of my head, I’m thinking:
  1. His response to being asked about Tactics Tim and the impact he was having. Rather than recycle banal clichés like Kane did, he just gave a look that told us everything
  2. Him holding his hands up after City and saying he was the luckiest man in the world after he was bailed out by VAR
  3. His reaction to the Ajax win
He didn't exactly slate us either - just said he'd maybe like a new challenge but if he didn't get the right one, he'd be happy to stay where he is. I’d be amazed if he went somewhere just for the cash and it’s not like he’s a massive United fan or anything. If he goes, it’s Barca/Madrid/Juve or somewhere. He has no reason to go to United.

United are still one of the biggest sides in the world
And Eriksen cAn argue it’s a change for him
I think it’s nuts as a spurs fan but he ain’t a spurs fan ... he barely has any rapport with the fans

Perhaps getting Utd back where they belong is precisely the sort of challenge he wants?

Perhaps the distinct lack of interest in him has been sobering, and Utd represent the only traditional "big club" he can actually join?

Perhaps the £250k a week Man Utd would undoubtedly offer him has turned his head and changed his priorities?

Who are we to know what his motivations are?

The brick about his comments, for me, is the complete ambivalence toward us. He said nothing against us, per se, but showed a total lack of commitment or drive or anything like it. Just kind of "I suppose I could stay where I am, thats alright too, but obviously Id rather be elsewhere...."

They're one of the biggest clubs in the world for sure but they've been struggling for a few years and show no signs of really challenging for the big trophies. They also have a joker for a manager who won't be there in a year. Eriksen can't afford another 2-3 seasons while they get their house in order and that's what it would probably take at a minimum. He won't even have CL football next season.

Plus, Manchester is brick compared to London/Madrid/Barcelona. I just can't see what would attract him to the place besides a big fat wage packet which he could get elsewhere.

Why not just wait until next summer and go there then if no other offer materialises? And get a big fat sign on fee to go with it?

Eriksen to United makes no sense to me this week. We don’t need to offer him up to them. He doesn’t need to push to go to them.

Because £64m is a tonne of cash. What does Spurs take from ticket sales a season? More or less?

Would you pay £1m a week for Bale?

That's quite a step up for a young lad, Eriksen would be the perfect transition, silva, Eriksen then foden.

Last season got they got about 97 points and that was with Kevin De Bruyne out for half the season and David Silva making just 6 appearances in the league. Eriksen would simply block Foden's path, go and have a look at their roaster they do not need Eriksen
