Christian Eriksen

Mountains out of molehills being made by some fans yet again. He spent several years playing for Ajax and he has said he would one day like to return there and he has said he still has a lot of friends there. Reading far too much into a remark made to players he knows.

He is a natural fit for almost any system,... he wasnt shoe horned in. Poch likes him and relies on him for his skill set. it isnt the system that is making him screw up 3 yard passes from the corner flag, or over plat balls to son on the wing, or constantly play hit the first man from corners. Its an attitude and mental thing....and its not a coincidence it really became obvious after he let the world know he wants to leave

am not saying he is trying to make us lose, am just saying that his care and commitment isnt there and its showing his is dragging poor form

there isnt a single poch system i can think of where he doesnt or cannot fit in
With his work rate, skill and end product from several different positions and roles I think he would fit into most systems.

His cold spells is really the only negative side to him, and possibly why he didn't get his move this summer.

Right now though, he needs to prove that he wants it enough to play a part for us this season. If things don't change I'd happily see him gone in January and think fondly of what he was when good for us rather than see him on the bench thinking of what could have been.

I read in yesterday's Times an Ajax player claiming that at the end of our famous 3-2 CL SF game, Eriksen told him that Ajax were the better team and deserved to go through. If true, this is an incredible thing to say - you just would not say that in the immediate aftermath of your own team winning it only minutes before. Talk about his heart not being in the club. Hope to GHod he's off our hands in January.
Fair play to Eriksen for being honest. They were and they did. Had I been within talking distance of an Ajax fan at that same point I would've said exactly the same thing (I think they would've then gone on and beaten Liverpool in the final as well).

Bear in mind that Eriksen had a big affiliation to that club and they sprang his career.

Mind you, i'm not sure i agree with his analysis, i think we deserved our win in the end for our heroism and fighting until the very VERY end. Our tactic of lumping it up to the big man in Llorente got us to be able to push them back and pin them back (plus allow our defence some breathing space).
In the end it was brawn over intricacy. They played the better football on the eye, but we were more effective overall (plus remember how poor our finishing was..)

I honestly dont think there is anything wrong with that if he said that? What the hell is wrong with saying that to an opposition player? At the end of the game if you speak to the opposition you dont say "haha gutted, we wanted it more than you."
Ajax were the better team and deserved to through. FACT. I'm not defending Eriksen at all, I think he is a cnut for coming out and saying he wants to leave to that paper. But to say he is wrong for saying that at the end of the match to an Ajax player is plain wrong. Nothing wrong with at all. You lot need to lighten up if that tinkles you off, there literally isnt anything wrong with what he said.
This. He may not even of meant it, he was just being polite/humble.

can I just confirm, you don’t think there’s anything wrong? ;):D

Remember that old adage about Eriksen, "he makes as tick", well that no longer applies. Offensively he gave us nothing today.

And I would not allow him take another set piece if were up to me.

I've said a few times that we should ignore from now on the players who are leaving and players we want to sell, with the exception of Vertonghen who we need given numbers. So dont play Alderweireld, Eriksen, Rose, Aurier and Wanyama. Go with the remaining 16-18 players and try to bring in 1-2 bodies in January. At least that way we should get some effort and team spirit

Poor game, and we should move on from him, but he wasn't the problem today, nor was he the worst midfielder.

I agree
fudge them off
And Toby who had a great game IMO is included
They don’t care so shouldn’t be there

Seeing him on the team sheet makes me feel sick these days.

He's 2 yards from the ball, opposition player is 5 yards from the ball. Who wins it?

Well, Eriksen quickly decides it's not worth the risk of being in a tackle so starts jockeying and waits for the opposition to collect it. Time and time again.
