Christian Eriksen

If I was a buying club I’d want to take him on loan for the rest of the season before I committed to a 5 year deal with him. He’s been playing brick for so long now he might not be able to recover.
Just not paying his wages for the next 6 months is the best I can hope for.

First attempt at taking a second chance handed to him by the managerial change. First chance to show Mourinho where his head and heart is as Mourinho wanted to find out.

Not at all taken well by Eriksen, I'm guessing he'll get a few more chances.

He'll be given more opportunities. The game had already changed in West-Hams favor when he came on, so he didn't have an easy time to influence the game. I was actually rather puzzled that he was brought on at that stage.

That's fair, and I reckon he might actually start him Tuesday.

But.....What is the point in 'finding out where his head's at' etc'? For me its black and white, if you want to sign a new contract, you play, if you don't, you don't. What's the point in us cajoling him back to form for the benefit of another team?

I think that is purely to try to make him feel included in the squad. If he feels and gets the impression that he's out, then there is no chance he'll sign a contract. If Mourinho wants him, and has a plan for him in the future, he's more likely to sign a new deal, especially if he sees that Mourinho can win us trophies.

It's hard for any of us to know what the best approach is, without being able to speak to Eriksen and try and gauge where his head is at. But in principle I could see the argument for starting him for one or two games, keeping him in for a few more if he plays well, and then hoping he'll sign a new contract if a run of appearances and good performances makes him and Jose think he could stay and get back to his best.

But to be honest, at this stage I just can't see him getting back there. It feels like his head has just gone. (Compared to Toby, Rose and Aurier - all of whom have wanted to leave, but who aren't playing as abysmally as Eriksen at the moment).

The only opinion that really matters is Jose's, if he feels that Eriksen could be a major player for us ( again) then he will want to have a good look at him in training and then in matches. The one thing Jose will not do ( unless he feels he does not need him)is bow down to fans who are slagging him off.

That is harsh!
Up until December he was one of, if not our best player. I’m intrigued to know what happened to cause such a marked decline and I’m not going to condemn him so easily after all the good service he gave us over the past five years.

That is 12 months ago though. just when do you start to hold a player accountable for his lack of form. his lack of effort and his general demeanor. Some say he came on on Saturday when the game had turned. I say it did not turn back due to him being on the pitch and us basically playing with 10 men. He would be the last player I would use at the moment. We all know that he is going to sign a contract with a new team in Jan.

As said. Out of the 4 out of contract players he is playing by far the worst. I would let any team that signs him to a pre-contract in Jan have him for free and get him out ASAP. I cant stand to see him playing at the moment.

Without signing a contract with us I just don't understand when this would happen. In Jan isn't he free to sign a pre-contract elsewhere?

Not saying it will, it will depend on if Jose thinks he can do a job for us and then persuading him to sign another contract.

I do not care that he does not want to sign a new contract. My issue is that while he is here he us playing like does not give a toss

The rapid decline of Eriksen’s form sits uneasily with me. I’m convinced there is more to it than meets the eye.

Nothing more than he has decided his future lays elsewhere and just isn't the type of character to give his all when not committed.

We saw this last time he went through contract negotiations, unless fully focussed/committed he doesn't perform

You have a better memory than me, can’t dispute what say.
Which makes me think he must stupid, who the hell would want him with this as a reaction!
