We've got no chance of beating Emirates Marketing Project without Eriksen. Even with him it's massive long shot even to get a draw.
We said that about Arsenal too. Believe.

City are by far a superior team to Arsenal though
I think Eriksen is our best player. We looked a different team for the last part of the game against West Brom, for example, when he started to influence the game from the centre. I want Eriksen in the centre and on the ball as much as possible. He is the one player who can keep the ball moving and play the creative ball when needed.
PS. I'm not sure I approve of all this relentless high pressing - it's even more knackering if you don't do it properly.
That is true. My intention though was to highlight the general defeatist attitude on the forum before these fixtures rather than the merits of our opposition. We're not as bad as we think we are and don't really think we've clicked yet either, not consistently anyway. Maybe we will have one of those games against City were everything goes to plan.
Totally agree. We seriously lack belief. Poch is slowly but surely bringing that into squad though. Fazio and strambouli look line determined winners to me
Sitting on my porcelain throne using Fapatalk
i think the lack of belief come directly from not having a goal threat until recently (last game).
before that it was pointless possession, where it worked in the oppositions favour allowing them to catch their breath before rampaging forwards with maximum numbers fearlessly.
Stoke beat City at The Etihad. It's not out of the realms of possibility to think we can get at least a point. A lot of luck and good fortune perhaps. But not impossible.
Actually, for me, the lack of belief has come from a season of getting completely ripped to shreds whenever we played anyone half-decent. Continued this season with Liverpool at home.
Arsenal game doesn't count for me as we were narrowly defeated by them on all 3 occasions last season as well because they're bottlers and we match them in the derby atmosphere, or at least come close to.
Emirates Marketing Project is a real test of how far we've improved under Poch in a short period in terms of instilling a bit more solidity and mental strength. Make no bones about it, giving City a hard game in a narrow defeat (for us) would represent considerable improvement over last season's shockers against them.

I'm with you on that and I'm thinking how Stoke got their goal . Maybe this is a game for Townsend ?
I think Pochettino should let Eriksen complete a full match or two. Afterall, he is our only freekick specialist. Unless the game totally is won or lost, we should keep Eriksen for the full match as he can win the match for us with his deadly freekicks. He always seems to be upset when getting replaced. After the Southampton match, felt as if he was throwing his training shirt in anger. Hope he won't be upset too much.
Poch doesnt fancy him against the big teams.
He's played three 90 minutes, a 82' and a 86' against West Ham, QPR, Sunderland, West Brom and Southampton.
But he only lasted 59' and 62' against Liverpool and Arsenal.

And the reason for that is the hopelessness after going two down that we are never going to come back from.
Even up to today we are finding out now how much bigger that bale sized hole is!

eriksen disappears from the game too much for me, in comparison chadli provides our best direct goal threat and lamela you can count on busting a lung to get to the ball. so i support poch's view.
eriksen is still young, but he must follow in lamela's footsteps to put on more weight and get stronger otherwise he risks being a luxury player. (flamesuit on !)
