I think a lot of his numbers are because of where he has played and the systems he has played. Using him as a defensive midfielder for a lot of last season, he ranked among the best in the league at defensive contributions, winning possession, and interceptions. You can tell by where he spent most time on the pitch and his low attacking stats that he was not used as often in attack (Much like most of our players under Frank and Tudor tbf).

But still his passing % and crossing % were very good. I'm excited to see what he can do playing further up the pitch and having help in midfield instead of him chasing most of the game.

I think he has become an important part of the squad TBH, had a fairly good PreSeason, seems to be very present and does alot of hard work. You can tell why managers like him

Gallagher's passing is not good quality. Watching him Vs data is highly recommended. He should not be playing an attacking creative role behind the two strikers if you are looking for solid attacking play and opportunities.

But you do need a squad of complementing qualities and his working and pressing in situations, especially come the end of the season was crucial to us staying up.

I thought he looked unfit and pretty crap in all but one game. He was no Paulinha in that spell

I thought under RDZ he looked very good.

I would not be expecting him to look like someone who played a distinctively different role TBF

I think the handy thing with Gallagher is he could probably do a 6,8,10 role toa decent level....and even out wide if you're short.

Yeh and ultimately his availability has been key. He played 50 games for Diego at Athleti and they finished 3rd, given his demands thats not nothing. I guarantee that this is a player who RDZ relies on for more than just what we think as fans, all because he doesn't do step overs etc

Gallagher in a team where he is the 8/9th most technical player is a deferent player to when he is the 2-3 in the team.

Which is fine, but this game isn't just about being technical, I have seen hundreds of technically amazing players who have done nothing in the game because they lack what he has. Squads need a mix of player and qualities, his qualities will 100% have a place over a season.

Yeh my point is Gallagher is not required to do the things that is required of highly technical players when he is surrounded by them. He just plays to his strengths.

The position he is playing requires much more higher quality than what he brings offensively. There were times I almost pulled the remaining strands of hair I had on my head watching some of his on the ball decisions.

agree but he will make good backup if we are leading and needing to rest fernandez or tonali without a drop in quality in the defensive side of midfield

GB doesn’t like Gallagher and when he doesn’t like someone he will continue belittling them, even if they go on a 5 game streak scoring a hat trick in every game he will still find something to bitch about.
