Daniel Levy - Chairman

Clubs don’t tend to talk about transfers with us
There have been 2 examples from memory … one was the Lyon chairman and the other was the chairman at Modrics club
Maybe my memory is fading but what are the other examples?
I recall Fergie said that dealing with Levy was more painful than his recent surgery.

Which is why I advocate for evaluating a window after it closes (and then again a while after that).

Then we'll actually know the outcome of this window.

Palhinha isn't elite? Not having a go, just curious. Not sure I would say elite either, but defensively my expectations are up there for him.

Kudus looks fantastic. Is he "elite", what's the standard for you?

It's a great question. Do you buy elite, or do you buy players and after a while you realise they're elite? That is because your recruitment team had the smarts to identify them before you realised their runway. I sort of feel like that about Kudus. I'm incredibly hopeful about the guy. Did I know Dele, Walker, Eriksen or Toby would turn out to be elite players when we signed them. Not in the slightest,

Even if Palhinha is elite, which he isn't, you don't remain that way when you hit your thirties in those engine room roles. For me, he is stop gap because we couldn't get someone like Wharton who looks like he can become elite.

So perhaps that better explains my comment about elite. I wanted players signed where we could have a debate about why they should be first choice after joining an already good team. Better still, no debate.
