I do think if we’re going to eventually win the PL and CL we are going to need to do what Arsenal and Liverpool have done, and compete with the other big sides for the big signing. A Rice, an Eze. I think we’re going to need one or two of those ourselves to eventually get there.
There's probably a logic of drawing a linear line along big money signings (£80m+) and success...although there are probably many big signings that haven't brought what the purchasing club hoped.
(Fwiw I wouldn't be confident of Eze being that player if I'm honest).

And looking back we had a moment (much longer than a moment tbh) where we had two lethal hotshots in our team for seasons. Very few clubs have had two genuine WC players, both worth well over £100m in their prime, to lean on for goals.
So we had big players, that didn't cost us the earth, but our current financial situation didn't exist then.

If two, three or four of our youngsters (signings or academy) can replicate that (which I imagine is part of the strategy) then that front end saving will give us the big push funds when things look seriously to be going in the right direction. (Which could be as short a timeframe as next season)

I’m not saying it isn’t possible. But I think we are relying on luck, or kicking the can down the road so to speak.

There’s a reason the clubs challenging for the biggest trophies sign the proven players. It’s because they likely won’t have an adaptation period, and they have the mentality to execute their quality in almost every game. It means those clubs are more likely to win in the now.

I’d love for us to be at that point. When we had Kane and Son, we were also signing Lenglet, or nobody. So we never rounded out the squad properly in those times to really push on. We may well get there in 3 years if this squad clicks together at the right time. And I’d love it if it did. But it’s a strategy less likely to win now than fighting to sign the player that our competitors at that level also want.

It simply boils down to them currently having more money than us and more pull via prestige/legacy. Just simple truths.

We chip away at that by increasing revenues (which we've done) and trying to be smarter.

Right now we're at a disadvantage, so less likely to win now. So that's where I set my expectations. But I live in hope. (Although we did win 3 months ago lol)

We wait for someone else to bring us more money, but I'm not longing for it like a man overboard longs for a lifeboat.

Do CFT really think that a few hundred who support them not buying in the shop or the stadium is going to have any effect.

Interesting little stat from the last Tottenham Hotspur Stadium accounts how premium revenue is greater than gate receipts for general admission. For 19 PL matches GA receipts were £45.1 m , Premium receipts £52.9 , total revenue £98 million which works out at £5.1 mil per match , which corresponds to the figures quoted before , the GA receipts wouldn't include beer/food sales but would be included in the premium revenue as its included in their ticket. For an indvidual match on average GA fans are paying £2.37 million and the premium side £2.78 million, all very roughly worked out but that's what it looks like from the accounts.

Where do you even start with this nonsense
So at the moment they've boiled it down (although even that suggests they've sat and thought it thru) to not getting enough shiny new toys for Xmas.

I do wonder if anyone outside our club (who cares to bother), scratches their head at such protesting if employing a comparative analysis .
