Danny Rose

I totally disagree. I have this nagging worry that our left side is seriously depleted now without Rose and Verts. And in Boro' we're up against one of the trickiest paciest players in the league in Adama Traore.
The lad is just starting to find his way and can seriously hurt us on the break. If he starts getting crosses in for the likes of Negredo and Gestede then Sat will def not be the walk in the park some assume it will be!

Davies doesn't have the pace to keep up with him, so I think he'll be reluctant to push on too far. Which in turn, will leave us a bit one-dimensional against another team who are bound to sit deep.

Gutted for Rose.

Good spot....I forgot about Traore... I still think Davies will be fine but maybe we ease into the game with a 4-3-3 formation, with our own two beasts in midfield keeping an eye on things.

A front three of Dele, Kane and Son will surely outscore Boro?

That's the key, though. Fine, Davies sits deep to deal with Traore - but if Boro do too, then Traore will be neutered given that he's stuck up front alone or (at most) with one of Negredo or Gestede some thirty yards from him. More likely Traore will sit deep with the rest of them, and Davies' caution will prevent any breakaway surprises down that side - if we can't beat 'Boro without Rose, then we're more fragile than we thought we were.

we've played our best football with rose and walker bombing down the wings.
i think we won't see it again until rose returns

I like Davies as a footballer, dependable and has a reasonable cross on him. He doesn't however have the explosiveness of Rose and we will sorely miss that. I think if was 100% against Sunderland and not gone off injured we would have won that game. Its not just his attacking ability, but also the passion and drive he brings into the team. I wasn't overally concerned when Verts got injured, but I am with this one. I think we would cope better without Walker then Rose as I think Trippier is stronger going forward then Davies as well. Will have to see how this pan's out, but I hope he is back soon.

According to the Standard, Rose is set to be out for the rest of February:(

Bloody hell i'd probably take that!! It looked innocuous when he went off, then there were talks of needing to wait until they could do a scan etc, then there's been the wait for any news…I was fearing a lot worse than just Feb.

So if this is true, it's what, all of 3 weeks?? One of which is FA Cup, that's not too bad in all honesty.

If true he'll only actually miss Liverpool (which was to be expected), Fulham (annoying but no huge shakes), Gent x2 (see Fulham), and then home to Stoke (not the worst fixture to miss).

Get him back for Everton at start of March and we've probably had a result really!!

it's all speculation at the moment, the Standard are reporting "the rest of February" based on what they reported last week "4 weeks".
Tottenham look set to be without Danny Rose for at least the rest of the month due to a knee injury.

Rose underwent a scan on the damage, sustained in the 0-0 draw at Sunderland on January 31, last week and also visited a specialist earlier this week.

Though Tottenham have yet to deliver a verdict on his condition, the fear is that Rose will be absent for about four weeks – as Standard Sport reported last week.

But it doesn't sound good.

Get KWP some game time in the Europa I reckon. Davies is more than good enough for any games against UK teams. Shame to lose Rose but probably not surprising considering how he flings himself about.

It's gutting if that's true but to be expected I suppose. Davies has his chance and needs to show us what he can do.

surely that should read

"as Standard Sport guessed last week"

No it didn't. He went in for a heavy challenge and got a whack, he immediately sat down and grimaced and motioned to the bench that it was serious and he needed to come off, then he pulled his shirt over his face to hide his facial expression and limped very gingerly off, he could hardly put any weight on it at all.

Remember that Gazza played on for a bit with his FA Cup knee injury, so clearly it was very serious. It wasn't a kick like an impact injury, it was clearly some sort of strain/break type injury.

Let's hope it calms down and he can come back soon. We've had enough of these sorts of things now with Verts ankle and Toby's strange knee nerve thing.

I think we should wait until Poch's Thursday media conference before counting the weeks he'll be missing. The Standard talk a lot of tripe.
