Danny Rose

Exactly

But that was minor investment with growth

Real investment is putting a big chunk of the profit back into the club and particularly the playing wide

thats one way, but it's not our model, which is clearly working

we invest to our means, anyone who thinks that will change hasn't been paying attention

Anyway if it is Rose, it will be exactly like the BBC 5 live thing at the end of the summer.

He said a lot of positive things, but because he has zero media training he came out with a lot of juicy quotes that people went crazy with.

I hope every idiot doesn't jump on his back. That's the last thing we need.

And what he's saying will be the same as we are all thinking. We want signings to challenge the first team.

Even Poch said the exact same thing today in the Gary Neville interview.

So Danny Rose gives an interview saying exactly what most Spurs fans have been saying for the last few weeks and those same fans jump all over him.

And the first part of the quote is "I’m not saying I want out".

The thing with Rose (if true) and Walker, may be that Poch sees that providing a player (ie potential replacement), has some basic abilities, he can mold and transform them into much better players, particularly in those FB positions, making them more expendable.
I may be talking bo larks, but IF he lets them go, see that as more plausible than DL pulling the rug from under his feet.

It sounds identical to that IMO

Levy would only sell with Pochs blessing that's clear IMO

players who excel for us will move to richer clubs, thats the natural order of things

history suggests, that in such cases, within 2 years, we'll have a player signed for peanuts most of us had never heard of who is better

And based on the players who left Southampton under Porch, their form will dip once he is no longer coaching them.

Yep, agreed, which makes me think that Poch can fill both those positions, either by ready made purchases, or more likely from coaching someone with the potential etc, given that we had the 2 best FB's in the League. But i don't see him being as willing to let others go, in other positions, on the basis that it would be harder to replace. At least i hope that's the case!

a very pertinent point, but the system has served us well for longer than that, since Hoddle's time we've found value in the market and developed talent in house, Michael Dawson is a good early ENIC example, I'm sure we could all name many

Some of the terms used in that article make me think it isnt about Rose. 'Household name', 'international ace' (wouldn't it be England ace?), 'premier league superstar'. It's deliberately ambiguous of course and could be Rose but it just doesn't feel like it. Coutinho definitely possible - but would him wanting out have other PL clubs scrambling? Has there been interest other than from Barcelona? Sanchez would fit the bill apart from having won some FA Cup medals.
If it is Rose then I can't see how it wouldn't impact on his relationship with Poch. Unless what he's supposedly saying is taken out of context.

There is an article in today's standard about Rose being flattered at Interest from Utd and how he might consider moving "one day". No quotes though.

I really hope it's not Rose. I'd hate us to lose him, and I'd hate for him to want to leave us. Also it's a distraction the team doesn't need and another stick to beat us with.

Guess we'll find out imminently.

Well that's only if Poch is ok to sell him

No indicators so far of that being the case

I'd be disappointed if Danny boy doesn't want to be here anymore, but if we can take a load of cash plus Luke Shaw from Utd, wouldn't that be a no-brainer? Shaw looked excellent under Poch, I reckon he'd love to come here and prove a point. Get Utd to subsidise his wages too, they have the money to burn.

If players don't want to play for us, no matter how much I love them, they can phuck off.

*edit* -- really hope it isn't Danny though because he has been one of my favourite players in recent times!

Absolutely.
