I would suggest the whole escapade was designed with the intent he wouldnt be here now having to live with it.
Clearly thought he could get himself a move. Ive no doubt Mourinho was whispering sweet nothings in his ear - but everyone knows an approach would have been knocked back.
So, surprise surprise, player comes out and makes his position essentially untenable. Slates the fans, the squad, the management, the club ambition...
Except of course, its backfired.
He must be so embarrassed but the players must actually feel really awkward around him. They will have known how well Poch and Rose got on. They will have seen all that Poch did to improve him.
I will never understand it. There must be some kind of mental health, injury/depression issue at play, because it makes so little sense. Obviously we weren't going to sell Rose, and he obviously wasn't going to get a move having been injured for 9 months. Just absolutely baffling.
For Poch to reintegrate him must make him hugely respected among the players. Of course the risk is, if you let Rose get away with it, what is to stop others trying the exact same thing? But I think all of our players are smart enough to know what Poch is doing for them, and it makes Poch truly look like the master of their universe. He's doing the best for the club, and I'm sure his relationship with Rose will never be the same again.
Given how Luke Shaw talks about Poch in the same book, I think money + Shaw for Rose would be best for all involved. Hopefully Shaw can get himself fit, and we can get some cash for Rose - who doesn't strike me as being the kind of gangling, lumbering physical type sloth that Mourinho usually goes for, so he probably won't do that well there anyway.
