DIY

I am repainting one of the new rooms in my new place. When I say im painting it im hiring someone to paint it.

Anyways Dulux - 60 quid for 5l - didnt realise paint was so expensive. Although it does seem high quality stuff and they mixed it for me in the space of a few minutes. Nowhere has any colours - went to B&Q and all paint was to be mixed - im presuming cos it saves them from just having wasted stock.

Anyone know cheapo places for paint?

I'd suggest the opposite, get the best quality you can afford. If I had the spare money (and time) I'd cover our house with paint from here - http://www.ecospaints.com/ no VOC's.

We've painted our bedroom in limewash from there (as it's old it is prone to mould in Winter), works a treat. Will do the rest of the house as it needs it, or our next.

I bottled my third batch of home brewed beer today. 19 liters of christmas stout. Quite happy with that piece of DIY! :)

What method are you using? I recently bought some whole grains, hops and yeast, but having gotten round to brewing it yet. I'm thinking of using the old brew in a cooler box trick.

been doing quite a lot lately, we recently got the hall plastered and I had to redo all the light switches and fixtures. mounted a TV to the wall in the bedroom with all the wires hidden in the wall. Also installed an in-wall iPod to play in the bathroom which is awesome, wife was sceptical at first but now she loves it.

Also had to do repairs to the dishwasher and the cooker, does make you feel like a proper man fixing stuff and drilling and what have you, plus it gets you out of doing normal brick chores like hoovering.

Yeah, we're men alright!

Tore down one side of the house the other day. Panelling came off nicely with a crowbar and brute manforce. It's pitch dark outside, so I bought a 2x400w lamp which turned out the be a freakin tractor beam! The whole town knows I'm working late evenings :)

Yesterday I removed the shuttering and took the leftover materials to the dump. Been digging trenches for some ground isolating tonight, bloody hard work in wet conditions! No need to visit the gym after this workout (not that I ever would visit a gym anyways, I am a man).

Reaping my beer-reward now. Might even throw in a Talisker or two!
