Dominic Solanke

Watched a good analysis of his heat map when we signed him and how he would have suited this system really well. It was pretty much all around the 6 yard box, penalty area and really attacking. TBF he has scored the goals I would expect, but we arent giving him enough of the service he deserves or requires and hes doing too much himself. He's a poacher and rarely scores outside the box apparently, so we should be feeding him more.

I was a bit harsh on him calling him a Darren Bent the other day, hold my hands up on that. But I dont think him coming deep and holding the ball up is what we want from him, as much as its a good skill set to have obviously. That said he has done better than some have thought he would this far into the season. I just feel that we are knackering him out and we could have done with another backup forward (not Richarlison as he's never going to be fully fit). Would Veliz have not been a good option to keep?

But that's how we play him

- We use him as a forward press (he's really good at it)
- We use him as a pivot (often deep) that the wingers and 8's (Deki) play around, run beyond
- And yes, we are running him into the ground

To me, Spence is the only player (we have seen it twice), who plays a ball specifically for Solanke to run on to (vs. just crosses to anyone in box)

Re your question on Veliz, he may be back (talk about us recalling as he isn't getting enough game time)

10 goals and 7 assists in a broken team is a decent start for any striker over 24 games

Yeh fair dos, but do you think we could just use him as a poacher and have someone higher up doing that, and/or just feeding him the one on ones or do you think that's just how it is and we should use him?

On a different note I'm sure Maddison was higher up the pitch when he played against us, and would be perfect to feed Solanke now, but he seems to be so much deeper and picking balls up further back, albeit he is our top premier league scorer.

To think I was critical of him when he first signed. I’m an idiot. I lived too much off of one poor stat and believed it. The truth is he’s so good, he has the all round game and I love that he plays for us. He’s a great striker with strength, link up, and works tirelessly every game. If we actually had good wingers I expect he’d be in the top goal scorer hunt too. What a guy and showed me that sometimes I know nothing.

the way he muscled konate off the ball to assist bergvall... this guy is a genuine monster

he didn't look tired until the final whistle was blown, when he promptly collapsed into the pitch. good man.

Saying that, I'm glad we got that version of Konate last night. We saw Gomez get injured against Hammers, and Quansah went in the first half last night. That left Endo having to cover for 50 mins of that game out of position. Konate came on at the 80 min mark and looked off the pace in my opinion. I don't think Solanke would have got it that easy with a fully fit Konate.

lol - not complaining though. They only have 4 centre halves. What stupid club would go into a season like that? :)

First reaction to his goal was that he was off, second was that he was off but it was closer than I thought.
So no arguments from me about the decision, but what happened to the semi automatic var, why don't we really get to see the process any more and why was the ref the last to know?
Just seems so sloppy.

It did make me chuckle that Sky had already told the nation that the ref was about to inform the paying supporters. So the ref knew, Sky knew, we all knew but again the supporters were last to know.

If they persist with this, I hope they align the comms so we all learn at the same time.

The ref knows first as he’s on the radio conversation. The graphic doesn’t get changed until after that point.

TV gets it next as they are covering the decision desk and get the same graphic that will be fed to the stadium.

It couldn’t work any other way, I see no issue with it, that’s how it’s always been. The only new bit is the ref verbalising it in the stadium.

Yeah, they should know three is more than enough 😜
