You're seeing ghost. It was the linesman flagging. They're usually pretty good at spotting offsides, as they, you know, place themselves in such a way that they have a pretty decent view for spotting offsides.
With VAR in place too, he wouldn't flag if he wasn't sure.
It can't be that just because there isn't a camera angle you have seen to confirm it, that we cannot trust the refs. The game has been played for over a 100 years without VAR, and now suddenly, refs are useless unless there is a perfect camera angle to confirm their decision? Come on man!

The incompetence is not having camera angles that can cover the whole pitch, not the linesman flagging.
I don't know if it was onside or offside as like everyone else there is no camera angle to show it, but linesmen have an accuracy of over 95% so the odds are that he is right.
