I liked Erik Lamela before it was cool

Re: Erik Lamela - Official

Dear lord man, dont apologise for that!!! you said nothing wrong ... just that top players in the top teams = world class cAlibre..which is an unnecessary superlative

LOL.

you basically had something more than worthwhile to say, i appreciate that......infinitely more than lazy reading and a simple response of "wow". (actually am making it an excercise in discipline and restraint not to respond to anyone that did that )

Meh, felt I kinda misrepresented what you had said when I re-read my post and even though I didn't do it on purpose I don't like that so well worth an apology :)

Aaaanywho. Onwards and forwards. Lamela to rip Cardiff apart ;)

actually on a serious note , i have seen nothing to suggest that's what he is all about. i think once again he'll play well and depending on his level of abilities he may score or assist someone. sometimes you just need a bunch of good players all doing their roles to make an AMAZING TEAM. its all about the team at the end of the day

i think we will see another solid and composed performance though, i dont think he will play bad......the way he plays , playing bad is rarely going to be on the cards, i dont think however that he will rip cardiff to shreds in a solo performance sense...in a team oriented approach i think he will help the whole team dominate cardiff. i would be pleasantly surprised if he did rip them a new **** hole through some spectacular solo play

Depends on how you define ripping someone apart I suppose. Poor choice of words on my part perhaps. I agree that he will have to be a part of a team performance.

To me though he just seems like the kind of player that will make something happen if he's just given the ball in a half decent situation with a sliver of space to be exploited. And a player that will contribute in the buildup play to make those situations happen for himself and others. Although that's not nearly as catchy as "rip apart". :)

Re: Erik Lamela - Official

I think some may have had different perceptions of what we were getting in Lamela - due to some of us never seeing him before - me being one.

I thought we were getting a player who was going to tear it up down the wings ala Bale - but he strikes me maybe as more 'cute' than that and more guile. Yesterday was evidence of that then again it was his first real game.

As far as im concerned he will take a while to slowly integrate into this team, im sure the language barrier doesnt help. He is going to be the slowest in terms of adapting to this team which means the pressure, especialy as a 30m man, may well increase.

i agree with the bit in italics almost completely

the bit in bold is now down to frequency. how often he does that....and what is it that he will make happen? i guess it is yet to be seen. here's hoping

good post

edit:- i also thought i was getting an immediate impact buy, and also a noticeable direct impact player that oozes ability and guile and creativity and skill etc

mumorn said he had the finishing and shooting skills of bale but also had the dribbling of robben

**** like that kind of puts thoughts in your head you know...and them someone said he was actually more of bergkamp type creative player. am like "DAMN...lets see what this kid can do"

i wasnt thinking about a season's project

He got an 8.5 rating on some sports site I was viewing.. Spoke glowingly of his performance, so I guess it really is just down to how you watch a game and what actions you use to rate a performance.

Re: Erik Lamela - Official

a good full debut. Id like to see him on the left side as well, i have a feeling he might be very effective there

he is only 21 people, cant speak a word of English, and is new to the country and English football. Please can we give him all the time he needs to adapt???

Re: Erik Lamela - Official

not overwhelmed, no mistakes so you could call that a decent debut i guess.

but he's got some really fantastic touches - control with the right shoulder, a few "steals" and not afraid to go to the byline surrounded by two players.

feels as if he's got a lot more to show but is just biding his time.

it was his full debut!?!? He is still a kid

i dont think its a good idea to rely on the opinions of others. You know some people tend to exaggerate. If you personally have never seen him play then you simply have to give the lad a chance to show you what he can do over a period of time and then make your own conclusion.

the price tag was excessive, but hey Bale aint worth 86 mill either no matter how well he did last season!!

Bale as the player maybe wasnt worth 86m but as an asset he was - he will sell shirts etc so yes he was.

Anyways we will see - im sure he will come great this Lamela.

It's just Spurs fans being Spurs fans. If the guy doesn't run fast, taking on every defender and shooting all the time then he's no good.

Thats Andros Townsend, and look how some fans criticize him

yeah, typical Spurs fans. Never happy:)

Re: Erik Lamela - Official

Lamela is not Bale, he is not Bergkamp, he is not Robben

the kid is Erik Lamela and he has his own talent and style. Its up to AVB to get the best out of him

Re: Erik Lamela - Official

For what it's worth. I've seen enough of Lamela to be very excited by what he is capable of. Whether he does it or not, is down to him. I have no idea of his attitude, but he has very quick feet, from yesterday I saw he can play with his head up and pick a pass too. Very encouraging. He has an assist to his name already, what's not to be pleased about.

I don't think it will do us any favours by judging him by his price tag. We need him to be free to just find his feet and his own pace in this side and league, and not be weighed down by what we expect from a £30m player. Expectation is heightened because he has shown the ability to have attracted interest from around the globe. I look forward to a lot more.

That is a sublime ball, sorry.

Re: Erik Lamela - Official

it is......if Özil had done that imagine the reaction

he had the vision and ability to play that forward pass....its what our forwards have been crying out for

Holtby's through ball for Defoe's second was superb too....perfectly weighted. They seem to have an understanding

That is a sublime ball, sorry.

it is a beautiful pass - everything about it

and if you look at the clip, as soon as he played the ball he then ghosted into the box into a position for a cut back or follow up anything that came off the keeper

Re: Erik Lamela - Official

Defoe's reaction on twitter

"Erik, what a ball! He was waiting for my run. We worked on it in training. I just had to finish."
