Doesn't everybody?They fly to stoke?!?!
They fly to stoke?!?!
From hero to zero in a week.
Let's look at the stats, he has 8, yes 8 premier league goals. Nowhere near enough for an 'attacking' midfielder. And before anyone starts, he has only 20 assists in just over 100 games. If we can get a decent price for him he should be allowed to be let go. Put Moura in and purchase an understudy replacement.
I wouldn’t go as far as to sell him. I don’t see what most people on here see in him and think he’s overrated on this forum but I still feel he’s an excellent squad player and can make a difference when he comes on.
Personally, I believe the days of him being a starter (especially in the big games) should be a thing in the past until he improves his end product as I think Son has improved his game exponentially in the last 2 seasons. I get that he works hard but everyone in the team does, no one would get in this team if they didn’t put a shift in. Eriksen, Alli and Son all work just as hard as Lamela AND have a better end product.
Lamela's best attribute is the way he can be used to categorise fans.
Those that like him are far more likely to be amongst our more "thinky" contingent. Those that don't rate him are more likely to rate things like "getting around the back", "putting it in the mixer", "chalk on his boots" two up front being automatically more attacking than one, etc.
A handy tool to have.

I really hope Poch starts Son, Wanyama and Aurier next week in place of Lamela, Dier and Trips respectively. Would also be nice to see Toby but I fear that ship has sailed.
Quite the opposite. He spends most of his time on the right side of the pitch - being heavily left footed, that means he'll cut in more than he'll drive outside. Of all of our players, he's probably the most likely to turn down an opportunity to "put it in the mixer" in favour of playing a lower chance/higher return through ball. But don’t we play him like the latter style you describe???

While I think that Lamela is behind all of those three in terms of goals/assists, he works harder than Son does defensively and I can therefore see why Pochettino preferred to play him over Son for the Emirates Marketing Project game. I think the opposite will apply in our games where we are likely to have to do less defending and need the greater attacking output that the other players give us.That's all fine but would you not accept that he needs to improve his end product if he is to usurp one of Alli, Eriksen or Son? 2 of whom have 10 league goals this season and Alli who has scored 10 league goals 2 seasons in a row. Eriksen who also creates more chances, covers more miles than any other attacking player including Lamela and gets more assists, Son who offers us something different i.e. pace and Alli who Poch almost never drops.
