I liked Erik Lamela before it was cool

Re: Official - Lamela

I want him to start every single game when he's back. The season is a total write off so he needs to get game time in preparation for next season.

Re: Official - Lamela

I saw him guys, he really does exist!!! Was sitting in a white hoody behind our bench today, this is progress

be prepared, rare sighting. The following images may shock the highly nervous ones amongst us............the Lamela is alive:eek:

Re: Official - Lamela

I never saw the guy play before he came so cant judge him completely but based on what I have seen this season - its not been great. Then again I appreciate the circumstances eg new country, new league, instability with the Managers etc etc etc.

Do you think he will stay at Spurs next season?
Do you think he will come good?

I see a great deal of optimism, some may well be blind some may well be in the hope rather than expectation, me? I cant really say. In all honesty I dont think any of our players have reached any kind of level that they can achieve with the exception perhaps of Ade and Walker

All I saw of him before he joined Spurs were videos on Youtube and to be honest, he looked very, very good. As you said, he's had to adapt to a new country, league, language, culture etc... so things cannot have been easy for him. I think if he can get some games under his belt before the new season, settle down a bit and given some love then he'll come good. The thought of having Lamela and Konoplyanka playing on the wing gets me going, they're both very quick, skilful and can score goals. I just hope they can both adjust to the Premier League (if KP joins that is). Only time will tell, he needs to be nurtured properly though.

Until the guy gets a run of Premiership games, and I mean a RUN, its impossible to say.

He appeared to be frozen out by AVB early on along with Eriksen and I have my suspicions that this was a two-fingers up to Baldini from Andre. It was initially under the guise of letting him adapt, but how's he supposed to adapt if he's never played?

His best game in a Spurs shirt and first goals for the club against Sheriff resulted in him being dropped for the next league game.

Similarly to what Sherwood did with Soldado when he finally got his goal - to be fair to our summer signings, people call them failures but they've been IMO horrifically mismanaged.

The only guys who've been given a proper run are Paulinho and Chiriches.

I'm hoping if we get a proper manager in the summer we'll see them improve.

Re: Official - Lamela

I actually think he has shown some great moments of skill this season. The game at WHL against Sheriff was probably the best, as the moment he got his goal he went into a different gear and literally demanded the ball every time we had it, ****ing Walker off a little bit. The up shot was though that with Walker not being allowed to bomb forward Lamela started going 1v1 and driving in and commiting men.

Re: Official - Lamela

I think if he was playing yesterday, between him Ade, Eriksen and Townsend, Arsenal would have paid for playing so defensively and so deep...

Re: Official - Lamela

I've decided to give all of our summer signings a second chance, once they are being managed by someone who isn't an utter b*llend (such as AVB or Sherwood). A proper manager will probably get something out of them, Lamela included.

Re: Official - Lamela

He's similar in Soldado in a way that just seeing him with a ball at his feet tells you that there is a great player in there somewhere. We just need to somehow bring that player out, the only way is a decent run of games IMO.

Re: Official - Lamela

I said in another thread, it's frustrating he is out at the moment with the injury as neither of our current wide players (Lennon/Townsend) are playing that great at all.

Is the correct attitude.

Was just saying to my mate that both Soldado and Lamala's moves to Spurs have cost them their places in their representive country word cup squads! I meet Lamala in Shaftsbury Avenue about 3 months ago and he seemed v slim, couldnt speak a word of english i think he's got alot more to come and needs to build himself up like bale did.

However, the likes of Modric and Bale took a while to feel at home in a Spurs shirt, so lets hope they come good next season under a new coach.

I'd love to see Klopp given the job, i think he could bring a few German strong characters/winners with him from Dortmond and seriously get us going.

Re: Official - Lamela

I do worry when they struggle with the language though, maybe English as a foreign language is hard?

I remember being on a college exchange 15 years ago, there was a group of us who went to Leipzig for a bit, we all went from no German to passable get by on German in the space of a week, how hard can it be when you actually live there.

To be fair English is one of the hardest languages to learn - there is no real pattern to it like other languages - especially when you compare it to something like French or Spanish which has masculine and feminine versions of words etc. So it is no surprising that it is taking him a long time to adapt. I have heard as well that people who speak Spanish can pick up Italian pretty easy etc as well, so no surprising he bedded in there.

Remember as well, this guy has probably be doing nothing but playing football for his whole life. Must be a bit of culture shock.

Though I have also heard Japanese is pretty difficult as well.

Re: Official - Lamela

also imagine being told you have to move countries at the drop of a hat. Most of us mortals would spend months or even years planning such a move. Must be difficult when you're so young and don't have any friends or family at your destination. He'll come good, I'm sure of it.
