Injuries

But it shows the numbers factually for once
Much more telling stats than I've seen before, which really shows the impact injuries has had on us the past few months. We've had almost three times as many abscentees as Chelski, who are 7th in that dreaded table.

The underlying issue here, of course, is why these injuries keep accumulating. It's not all bad luck.

But in that context I also find this part of the article very interesting:

But sessions are understood to have been extremely light over the last few months due to the relentless schedule.
The ex-Celtic boss said last week: “I know people look at our training, but I guarantee you we’ve hardly trained for the past four months.
“We’re looking at our processes but the wiser thing to do is stay calm, investigate it properly and make sure we make the right decisions.”

Yep
We know nothing in reality and it could be blind luck but that’s an extreme and so unusual it doesn’t make sense

I’m sure there will be a reason for this and I hope the club is looking at this closely. I’ve got a slight theory which is probably rubbish but I often see the players in pics and videos doing Pilates style workouts. I do Pilates myself and it has lots of benefits but since starting I’ve had so many niggly little bits of pain (shoulder, hip) which occasionally develop into something I need to get looked at. My theory is that it promotes a strong core and even posture but perhaps works against my natural posture slightly. An elite athlete vs a 43 year old real ale enthusiast might be very different beasts but we are all human of course..!

My other theory involves some sort of curse or similar. That’s been quite a long standing theory when it comes to this club so probably the most likely reason for all the injuries!

...I think you've cracked it. MORE real ale at Hotspur Way would ease things and make everybody better!

But...but...it's all his fault because he's running them ragged at training, terrorizing Tuesdays, flogging their hamstrings to go 'ping'...

But when you think about the pattern we've seen, it supports it. Last season we played 41 games and there were a few stories emerging that player X was injured in training even though we'd seen them complete the game at the weekend. I also saw with my own eyes very leggy teams on a Saturday after a week off. Then as we roll into this season, I don't recall a single training ground injury. The games have been coming thick and fast and we've removed so much of the training sessions.

I was trying to plot our path to the end of the season. 15 weeks left. 14 league games of which 2 are on weekdays. Up to 7 EL games of which they are all midweek. So we could still find ourselves with 9 of the 15 weeks playing 2 games a week. Then when you think half of those full weeks off are in this month. Conclusion, to win this EL is going to be incredibly tough if we don't break this injury cycle.

Was just looking to see when we had such a gap between fixtures as we have this week. 6 days without a game, the last time we had close to that was 5 between Wolves and Saudi Sportswashing Machine over New Years and the last time equal or longer was back in August between Everton and Saudi Sportswashing Machine when we had 7 clear days. Obviously ignoring when international breaks are. Hopefully the players have got some much needed recovery time in.

Just going to mention this, just incase there is any truth to it it might soften the blow, but someone (random person on X that I have never heard of) is saying they have heard VDV is out for the season.

Suffered a set back.

Hopefully it's not true, but just incase we can all mentally prepare for it...
