Jose Mourinho - SACKED

Happy to be proven wrong on Jose. Today was excellent. And I think it was a very Jose performance
I’ve heard loads of mates say it was a tough watch, it was, but so have they all for about 10 years! City dominate possession and us in general, that’s what they do. Sometimes tgey hammer us, sometimes they don’t.

the idea that this passive performance is just Mourinhos style is not entirely true. Poch (I love him) was dominated by City almost everytime.

I was dubious about his appointment, but he's getting results and got us organised with the player buying into it. Fair play to him

He also looks like he's loving it too!
I was never dubious about him. Just dubious that we would give him the transfer backing he would require. Thankfully Levy has. Hopefully it will pay off with a major trophy.

I really can’t understand the tough watch point, we were excellent and I enjoyed watching us fight for every ball.

Emotionally it was a tough watch
Because we took an early lead your excitement naturally goes up as we’re winning
And then because we’re playing counter attacking and they have all the ball your naturally concerned that their gonna get chances and possibly score
And don’t forget we’re spurs fans ... we have seen what we have seen for many years
And I agree we fought and win every ball. I think we were in control of the game as our game plan worked perfect. It just isn’t comfortable for me to watch us control the game without the ball

I get that, but conversely, how many times have we been the team behind with all of the ball and not managed to score, we should know better than anyone how hard it is to break down a tight defence.

Oh I agree
I’ve seen us play huff and puff football for years and come away with nothing
We would kill a team on the half way line as if it was a genuine achievement
Son made 17 passes yesterday and had 34 touches in the whole game but was everywhere
It’s why possession is over rated if there isn’t an end product
What’s interesting now is if you take the outlier which was Everton (where we had the better chances but didn’t play well) we have a real mix of styles this season that I haven’t seen from anyone. The nearest to us in being able to combine things is Leicester but I still don’t think they play well when their forced to have the ball.

Can understand it to an extent. More in other games than this one though.

I don't understand why it's not something we can get used to.

Maybe more in other seasons, But has anyone played consistently well with free flowing football since the start of the season?

KDB was saying how shattered the players are, that’s having an impact - It’s laughable that city are moaning about it having spent 100 million on 2 CBs in the summer of course.

We’ve played 2 top 6 sides in the league so far this season and beaten them both by exposing the weaknesses they have - United awful defence and City having no bite and able to be got at on the counter.

The detractors are saying it’s awful every week - Everton aside we’ve had the best chances in every league game this season.

I normally assume we will fold, even after going 2-0 up, but I didn’t yesterday - I wouldn’t say I was comfortable - just confident we would not fold.

Every Spurs game for me is an emotionally tough watch haha

True. Do you every feel “this is done, the points are ours so I can enjoy it now”? Maybe Southampton away when we went 5-1 up? United when we got to 5-1 up and had an extra man? West Ham at 3 up with 10 mins left and Bale on the pitch...oh right.

If we do manage to sustain a title challenge, I’m really not looking forward to games in March and April particularly against the top sides. Forget the players bottling it, I’ll be bottling it all over my living room carpet.

Even yesterday with a 2-0 lead and 5 to go I was nervous hahaha

I agree.
I guess there is the entertainment Vs tactical artistry argument.
But I can't think of many teams that get anywhere always playing attacking.

Personally, yesterday was a beautiful tactical watch. City had lots of possession, but we controlled the game.

I really believe that the players are getting belief that they can beat any team, they are picking up the message that is coming from Jose and putting into action on the pitch. You can see the belief (from all the players) in the system and in themselves to play to the system.

I am sure that there will still be a few problems along the way but the effort and work rate from all the players yesterday was a very good sign, they are seeing that hard work, skill, energy and that belief in themselves and the manager will help them progress.

Great to see.

You can't underestimate what his signings have brought to the party to toughen us up as well. Hart, Bale, Hojbjerg and Reguilon are all lads who look like they know what it takes to win and Hart and Hjobjerg particularly look like they aren't afraid to rattle cages to make sure we do it.
