Kit Thread

whilst its clear that shirt prices in general are as high as they are, because thats what the manufacturers can "get away with", and maximises profit etc, I think the media has built a story from nothing with this new £90 england shirt.

Most football shirts that you see on fans are the "replica" shirts. ie. the ones that cost around £50 when released.

This £90 England shirt is the "authentic" one. And authentic shirts have always been this price. I'm not sure about under armour. But if you want any authentic shirt by Nike (ie Man Utd's, Arsenal's, Barcelona's etc), it will cost this much. 99% of the shirts on football fans are the "replica" shirts, and the media are comparing those ones to the "authentic" England shirt on price. Which isnt exactly a fair comparison.

fwiw, the difference between authenic and replica shirts are very little. Authentic shirts are usually a slimmer fit, and generally are not as durable.

England rugby did it in 2005, the player shirt was 85 and really good quality.
Nothing wrong with giving people choice

Still think the replica one is overpriced though at 60. 40 is fair market value for a shirt that is only worth 25 if you take the badges off

This argument of kit prices comes around every couple of years and no one does anything about it,a few heated discussions, then dies down a bit and then forgotten till another kit gets released.

Sport Direct have tried to lower kit prices even tescos had a go once but nike and adidas throw their toys out of the pram then and refuse to send them load of stock to sell.

The new thing now kit companies have started to do push to us gullable fans now is tracksuit tops or in marketing speak,'anthem jackets',when they walk out before the game,£75 a pop i think.

Only time i be interested in buying a jersey is when they are half price or even less at the end of the season.

yh i think this is why it is a shame that umbro is no longer the kit supplier for england. the umbro england shirt price used to drop to as low as £5-10 in the last 6 months (before it was to be replaced). a very nice price for a decent football shirt for parents of young children. but now under nike, i doubt the england shirt will even drop to £25 in the last 6 months.

i think its a shame that shirt prices are so high. and i'm with 'a spur from swansea' in that i can't beleive that nike are getting away with the anthem jackets, presentation tracksuits, training shirt/jacket etc. but as long as people are willing to buy these products, you can't really blame the manufacturers for making these items.

According to Puma it's supposed to be silver.

Brazil seem to have a black third kit. Do other teams also have a third kit? A quick google suggests brazil has never worn their black kit in a game.

The third Brazil kit is dark green, not black.

Belgium also have a third (yellow) kit.

No doubt others will have too by the time the tournament starts.
