Kyle Walker-Peters

I think he's 23 so it's definitely, make your mind up time for him. He could do well at Southampton and still make the step up if it works out.

From our point of view it does appear a bit stupid as none of us have much faith in our RB choices but thats been for a while now, so if KWP couldn't step up (for us) in that scenario maybe a fresh start is better for HIM

To be honest i never saw the hype that was on him ( probably unfair of me to say that after only a couple of dozen games for us), i think its better for him and us if he moves on.

That season he was man of the match in the first and last game. Both against Saudi Sportswashing Machine, was pivotal for him. A waste of a season that stifled his development. Doubt whether he could have got to Walker's level but he sure as brick could not have been worse then Aurier.

Has Jose had a real chance to work with him? I would not mind him coming back in the summer and then Jose giving him a chance to compete for the RB role. We have a gap in the squad so why not? Some consistent play from him lately may well have helped. Walker was fairly late to develop into a somewhat reliable Full back.

Id still be more inclined to keep him. Especially when we dont have a ton of cash. Why throw away a player then have to buy some unknown commodity.

i thought he was a lightweight but he has looked very competent the times I’ve watched him at Soton.

You must be getting rather full nowadays ;)

KWP is as strong as, as fast as, as skilful as, as tall as, and is performing as well as, the right back at Norwich Aarons (who just got relegated with an awful defensive record)

it’s why so many football fans are fat

yes, he looks much improved

I saw a lot of him as a young player and never thought he was good enough defensively, ok as a wingback or wide midfield. I prefer my defenders to be able to defend, it's great if they can do more but defending is their job.

Apart from a mistake against Barca what did he do wrong? MOTM in at least two games, can cross better than most of our full backs. If we gave all players as many chances as we gave him we wouldn’t have enough players to complete a starting eleven.

I would have him back in a flash instead of Aurier.

I don’t have an issue with Aurier, but agree with your first point, we’ve not given young players enough game time in recent years.

We’re not the dog and duck eleven, you don’t get a professional contract at Spurs if you don’t have the minimum level of athleticism and technical ability for the PL, success or failure from that point on is determined by application of the player and effort of the coaching team.

I'm not sure if he's necessary as a part of getting the Hojbjerg deal done BUT I'm beginning to think we may need to give him another try. He doesn't appear so small when I've seen him for Southampton (maybe it's the hair?) and he appears to influence the game a lot from RB.

Maybe he's not felt such a small fish in a big pond down there?

If we can't afford a new RB this window, giving him another run possibly will save us scouting and paying £20m for someone.

x2

After being given a few opportunities where he didn’t disgrace himself at all, he didn’t seem to be considered as genuine competition for a player prone to making mistakes. Not saying he was the new Cafu but I hope if we have players that are on the cusp of the first team but not getting minutes they get loaned out in future.

In this case I think it’s come too late, at KWPs age and having two successive managers not rate him I wouldn’t blame him at all for taking the opportunity to go to SCBC permanently.

No .. I suggest you go back and look at the games he played in .. his highlight reel for Spurs is a few decent crosses against mid to lower level opposition.

- He's too weak, got bullied in game all the time
- He's absolute brick in the air, and was exposed multiple times by a cross field ball to opposition wide player in the air, he never knows if to come for it, step back, try for it in the air .. disaster.
- What's his upside/weapon? not the quickest/strongest, not super technical, doesn't take on players regularly .. at best is a decent player ..

Aurier's first games after KWP highlighted that, Aurier will claim those balls in the air, Aurier will not be physically bullied out of a game (may get exposed positionally or turned).

Just another Spur's youth player who isn't good enough no matter how much we wish it, and like the rest, let's recoup 5-15M and move on, if he does a great job for some mid table PL team, great for him, all the best.

We should be aiming to upgrade Davies and Aurier, and KWP is a player that might be able to do a job .. might .. not an upgrade on anyone (I'd rather play Tanganga there)

That sums up my opinion on KWP pretty much, i understand fans wanting to see " 0ne of our own" make it through but in all honesty imo i have not seen anything to suggest he is the answer going forward.

This is fine and I agree HOWEVER we must not spend money on Aarons from Norwich, he is the same player, but expensive.

The weaknesses are fair and I don’t disagree

however they could have been improved on with a proper development plan rather than sitting in no mans land

muck up by Mopo, he looked like he was going to do the same with Skipp, hopefully Jose will give him a loan
