Manager Sack Watch

thats one of the worst PL performances I have ever seen, completely incompetent
They were ridiculous against The Dippers a few weeks ago too. Any sort of competent coaching defensively and they’d have won the game.

Admire his principles but at some stage you have to realise you’re in the results business.

Tnt kept saying that this is the style the owners are insisting on, is that true?

At least they only lost 3-2 to Liverpool.

And it didn't do Kompany any harm sticking to his principles and getting one of the biggest jobs in European football :D....

What I’ll say is some clubs probably do prefer a coach with a sexy foreign name and I’m sure the fact that a lot owners are foreign means they don’t have the same attachment to our game nor do they feel that have to hire an English manager for sentimental reasons or for any other reason, but they probably feel the English coaches don’t adapt or move with the times.

I can’t think of any English managers with an overlooked CV.

There is such a big gap between PL and Championship that managers need to bridge that gap in other European leagues to get noticed, and not many do that.

I think it's a way more complicated conversation

- English game has lots of levels, so as a young manager you could start 4 leagues down, harder to catch the eye than a young manager in other countries where you start 1 or 2 down (as they have less)
- I think the resource gap makes it harder to evaluate, i.e. Southampton, Leeds, Leicester, certain teams will always bounce right back up because their resources are so much greater than anyone else in that league
- Player profile, traditionally the type of player utilized in lower leagues (bit of a blanket statement, but more physical, less technical), therefore the types of play/management don't always translate

And yes, fans want a name, and someone who managed a club in a European league often sounds more appealing than someone who managed a club in lower leagues in England.

English players are so wealthy they don’t really need to put themselves out.

Far easier to talk a lot of gash in the media for an hour a day and still get paid handsomely.

Gipuzkoa is the hotbed....four of the fellas in the PL at the moment. Remarkable!
