Manor Solomon

There is a very logical argument to recall him, if that is even an option.

The player won't be enamoured about it would be my guess. They're having a load of fun at Leeds this season.
I bet Cullen would be delighted about having to firefight his far right conspiracy theory instagram postings

Oh yes.

Deadline day, more injuries and injury setbacks. Solomon back from loan as the last and only deal after Kinsky...

I like good feelings, that would not be one of them.

Is it one of those damned if we do, damned if we don't moments in life though?

If we land a wide forward his services won't be required and his stock will go down. However, the manager needs him right now, not when the injuries come back.

Needed him last season, but "always" injured. Didn't need him this season, loan him out, end up with loads of injuries, needing him and him being fit, but out on loan.

Best laid plans and all that.

He looks class for Leeds and has scored again tonight. Was a great idea keeping Werner and letting him go to Leeds.

Ipswich, Southampton and Leicester were setting the Championship alight last year. It’s a completely different standard. I honestly think Ange would do well there. It’s a different world.

If only players from SPL could make the step up to EPL as easily as those from Asian leagues did when joining Postecoglou at Celtic. Hopefully he wasn’t under the impression that we’d be signing players at quite the rate he enjoyed up there, as see he got 29 new players in during those 2 years which even wheeler-dealer Redknapp would be proud of.

Guess that Carter-Vickers got into SPL Team of the Year in 3 consecutive seasons having previously been a Championship journeyman shows how big the gulf in class is.

Bit harsh on CCV, always showed flashes of being a decent CB.

Hitting his prime at 24-27 is almost expected. I'd say there are a lot of CB's in lesser PL teams he would probably be better than.

Yeah, perhaps now he’s in his prime CCV might make a the cut at a smaller PL club but looking at the standard of SPL’s best players and of those who plied their trade in England they all did so in lower divisions; apart from a well past it Joe Hart.

Solomon is probably playing at a higher level in a competitive Championship than CCV at a Celtic side looking to complete their 6th treble in 9 seasons.

LOL - you don't have to deal with so many injuries if you keep selling your broken toys and keep buying brand new ones.

Question: In Postecoglou's preferred system, would Manor Solomon have been more effective that the likes of Johnson, Werner and Son?

Particularly interested in what you think here @Bishop

More effective than Werner yes. Possibly son as we all know how son has been this year. Johnson, is a different player and a poacher of goals. Solomon can take on and beat a man, cut back and cross

He looked decent enough when he was playing for us last season, granted small sample size. But I don't think it's as simple as saying we should have kept him and got rid of Werner because Solomon was coming off the back of a long injury so getting game time was extremely important, of course in hindisght he would have got more minutes than Ange would have anticipated him getting were it not for our injury woes but on the face of it Solomon getting consistent game time in the Championship made some sense.

Who knows, perhaps like Spence after his loan spells he could be given a chance to be integrated back into the squad with Werner undoubtedly leaving and Son on his last legs....

It's worth thinking about. Given budgets and where we allocate that regarding our priorities in the summer. It's a shame he doesn't favour the right side as probably even more reason to give him a look.

On the flip side ....having had a productive season at Leeds his stock could be at his highest, so we get rid and pray he doesn't kick on further and hence miss out

What about his far right social media postings though? No way he should be let back through the doors after that

I hear you.

Spurs don't want the moral debate either how they're about to make a healthy profit out of the Ukrainian war. Not a good look for FIFA and definitely not a good look for the representative of the Premier League at the Executive Board of the European Club Association (ECA).

In reality we are looking at 15m or so extra to the transfer budget in Solomon aren't we? He would have contributed here, we do need him, but if we can get 20m maybe more with clauses, he'll help us subsidise spending 50m on a forward.

Another who got injured and didn't get a chance to really show his ability. But we saw just about enough to know that he'd probably be a decent squad player and not much more.
