Marcus Edwards

“In general, he has improved a lot, in terms of his attitude, but he can still grow up a bit more...”

Sounds like he’s taking the criticism on board and addressing it but is not there yet.

Also sounds like he needs to continue his strength and conditioning work. So again not quite ready.

But as long as he continues with improving his attitude, knuckles down in training he’ll be fine as his ability is not in question.

I do wonder whether he was sent there to be given the same message by a different manager. It would suggest a lot of trust between the two managers and clubs, if that is the case.

IMO, from what Ive seen, this has always been the case.

And whether or not he makes it (with us, or in general) will depend on this outcome. Talent alone is not and never has been enough.
It will also influence the chances he gets - Poch will forgive football mistakes and manage a player through it, but mentality issues seem to be his red line.

I would caveat I would add, is that this is from a Norwich point of view.

A small club, essentially family run, in the back end of nowhere (and before anyone gets prickly - the family is from Norwich and half are still supporters!)

Given the resources/facilities at Spurs, it could come off as being a rooster just for pointing out some adjustment is needed to get used to what is available there.

Of course, it could simply be he is a rooster as well...

I hope that you are right because the lower leagues are full of promising youth players who never fulfilled their potential.

The problem is that if he continues giving people the perception that he is a dingdong then 'small club' Norwich will be a far bigger club than he will end up playing for. Norwich's set-up is also pretty good. Definitely towards the top end of the Championship clubs and actually better than some PL clubs.

Not trying to slate them at all, just pointing out the obvious.

We have facilities on par with the best in the world, the chances of Norwich being close to comparable are slim.

It could be very easy for a young lad to come across as a rooster simply by being immature such that he lacks a bit of tact - no offence intended but bad impression made all the same. Thats all Im saying, trying to spot a little glimpse of light in an otherwise bad sounding situation.

Don't want to see talent wasted, but it happens https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nathan_Oduwa

Oduwa's nowhere near Edwards and I doubt you'd find many youth watchers who seriously saw him as being a future first teamer. He does have some eye-catching ability but his problem has always been that he looks as though he's been playing street football all his life and lacks the basic understanding of how to fit within a team's dynamic. I did say a while back that one day he could resurface in a similar way to that of Yannick Bolasie if he can put his game together but he's certainly not this nailed on star who threw it all away.

As for Marcus I feel sorry for him because people can't seem to leave him alone without chiming in with what they've heard, even when we've just had positive news from his manager it seems to get lost amongst all the hearsay.

Being a Bill Big gonads is just about the worst trait you can have in a young player and probably the hardest to coach out.

You are spot on mate, unfortunately it does happen to a few young players. I wish i had pound for every young player i have seen go through the youth system at various clubs but they never learnt that lesson and faded down the leagues and out of the game.

As for Norwich they may be a " small club" compered to the big city clubs but they have always had a first class set up especially at youth level. ( i know you did not suggest they are Milo).
