While I wish he had scored from that shot yesterday a little part of me is glad he did not. After the comparisons with a young Messi a couple of days prior the media would have gone overboard with hype and I do not think this is something he needs right now. He would have been on the back page of the Metro and the Evening Standard and it would have been all over Sky Sports. Sometimes that kind of stuff can do more harm than good
 
He appeared quite level headed. A few simple pass backs to get his touch and feel his way into the game. The a few dribbles, but never got into trouble and released the ball at the right time.
 
Cracking little cameo nearly capped with a super goal. Deserves a few more bench appearances at the least, this season

I can understand that, young kids can be swamped with praise by the media ( and in some cases it can effect their progress), what tinkles me off more though is in six months time the same media start slagging off players who have not progressed.

good week for the lad, a first team debut and driving test passed
 
Saw the first half an hour of the U-23 game at Anfield. Pretty anonymous and sooooo easily shrugged off the ball; not exactly diligent in tracking back - can see why Poch is taking his time.

But once he gets the ball in or around the box, the kid becomes dynamite. You can see he instinctively knows where the back of the net is!!

Hope he bulks up though Lennon had a similar physique and he didn't do half bad.

BTW Onomah was as anonymous (playing in what is apparently his preferred CM position) as he has been in the first team. Simply cannot see what Poch sees in him :eek:
 
Possibly a player that he feels has massive potential and the making of a player that may go on to fit in his set up.

When it comes to coaching I can't think of many better than poch in the world.

Lennon like Sterling had that grizzly strength and pace which made them very difficult to knock off the ball at that age.
Edwards may be better used as a player off Kane if Alli or Eriksen are not available, this would mean he doesn't have to do what he can't but work in the box, where defenders will fear knocking him over and conceding a pen.

Thanks for the report! :)

Although it might sound cynical, I'm sure poch and the club have in the back of their heads that you can significantly increase the transfer fees for players that have played so and so many matches for the senior team. Just by getting a handful matches for the first team, you can bet we can get a good price on onomah if we decide to sell. A pretty sound financial strategy, I say.

Not saying we should consider selling onomah yet, but I agree with your sentiment at this point, have seen very little promise in onomah so far. Still very young though.
 
I bet in 2 years Edwards will be sold. You always hear of these so called amazing talents and it hardly ever mounts to anything. Hope im wrong but seen it so often
