Luka Modric
He absolutely should be getting it right. If he's in the elite bracket of managers, that's what they do.
So with that logic no elite manager would ever get fired, who are they again?

I thought it was about refreshing the squad, not player being on the end of contracts?Considering Poch has been speaking of a rebuild and needing to act in a different way in order to take the next step for a length of time longer than which it has become apparent that is what was needed i think it's safe to say that it is a conversation that has been had a higher level.
My take would be that with the stadium move impacting the finances a decision was made that we should stick with what we have and rebuild once the finances are there to buy the right caliber of player. To let the players contracts run down in the hope they do a Modric/Bale and perform despite deciding to leave.
They tend to get fired once they're no longer performing at an elite level. So with that logic no elite manager would ever get fired, who are they again?

So playing current PL champs, current CL champs, the current form team in the PL, and our biggest rivals, followed by a team who have spent £120m to push for the top four aren't among the toughest fixtures we could have.
Ok. We've haven't played Chelsea our man u yet, that's it. After 11 games, how much harder could it have got?

So those players wouldn't move. Said players will go for free (or next to) after they see out their contracts.
So if we accept the premise that the squad needs refreshing, we need to sell other players to generate the funds to buy new ones.
I am talking about this incessant need to come back at anyone who holds a view beyond “sack him”. Not just you BTW. It seems as though BoL, Billy, Robspur are all on the end of a barrage everytime they express an opinion different to the “sack him” one. Me? I gave up trying to discuss. I started a thread “crossroads” to try and discuss, but it descended into what I am describing, a slagfest of everything THFC right now. Even Son was slagged for his reactions to the situation yesterday, and assertions were made that a man who just played a game for South Korea in North Korea needs to “toughen up”.
There is no proper gauge for discussion or opinions. It is an all or nothing place right now.
I have said several times what I believe Poch is doing wrong, but hold the view that he should have the chance to build mkII. Some people cannot accept either.
Since that fluky win vs Emirates Marketing Project, which we got away with but would have been expected to have been a springboard of "well we've played the best team, now let's get at the rest" attitude:
Saudi Sportswashing Machine, Palace, Southampton, Brighton, Watford, Everton.
Points available: 18; Points gained: 8.
Is that level of points return what should be expected?
See the post above yours. Not sure why Poch is considered above all the others.Because elite Managers never have a bad run of results? Who are these ones again?
Or we prepare well enough in advance, knowing that the stadium build will inhibit transfer spend, and make sure we don't land in this entirely unacceptable situation.Or, we keep our powder dry. The fact that we haven’t spent too much means we should have some cash to play with when the squad space opens up.
Or, we could have released Rose on a free, but before the benefit of the new stadium money has started filtering through, meaning we wild have had a squad space to fill but with only the ability to continue to shop in the best of the rest category as we shoot our load too soon.
See why this isn’t necessarily as easy as it looks from the outside? Why we maybe had to be patient and deal with circumstances outside of our control as it relates to refreshing the side?

Players not wanting to move is a hiccup - that's why we have to be ahead of timetable, to allow for problems like that. There should have been alternative player sales prepared and alternative purchases too.how does preparing well enough in advance square with players not being willing to move on and the financial realities of not being able to release anyone we want to for free to instigate the rebuild?

Cherry picking.
This season.
Last season is history, if you aren't happy with top four, CL final and f a cup sf then not much can be said.
This season my point stands, how much more difficult could our fixtures have been?
The narrative of our away form is wrong and overstated.
Unfortunately the narrative on our general form isn't.

That's all assuming the squad actually does need refreshing and it's not just Poch making them add up to less than the sum of their parts.
If we need to refresh the squad to continue to compete (and I'm still not convinced we do) then we have to sell whoever we can to refresh the squad.ok, so instead of selling the players that don’t want to be here but are clinging on, who shall we sell? Dele? Son? Maybe force Ben Davies out?
and then when those players who don’t want to be here and eventually run down their contracts, what then? We’ve sold committed players and we’re losing the others anyway.
The idea that the squad needs refreshing comes from what near enough every top manager who has spoken on the subject has said. Why do you think it doesn’t particularly apply to us?
