Mauricio Pochettino - Sacked

Yeah and we’ve played Saudi Sportswashing Machine at home and lost, Watford at home and drew, Brighton away and got spanked. If you could let me know what you have seen that makes you think we are going to win the reverse of those games at home that would be great....

We were close to winning 4 of them away. That’s enough to make me think we might get a few points at home (which I never intimated anywhere in my post btw).

It’s not standard practice in statistics to only remove only one end of the outliers.
It absolutely is.

The very worst thing one can do when trying to tame data is to somehow attempt to balance or even things by taking equally from the top and the bottom.

Outliers are outliers. If you're removing them then you remove them regardless of which side of the middle they fall. If all the low numbers clump together and there's one really high number, you clip the high one. You don't arbitrarily pick a low one too for balance.

Sauce: 5 years of working as a DBA for a statistical analysis business.

Did I also mention we’ve already travelled to:

Liverpool
Emirates Marketing Project
Arsenal
Leicester
Everton
Our away results haven't been awful but coupled with the home ones they tell a pretty crappy story.

For sure. My point was that’s it’s generally regarded that facing all the top teams away first is a tougher start to the season than playing some at home.

I saw a chart this week showing all teams combined difficulty of remaining games this season and ours was 20th most difficult (easiest from here on in).

But in this case the greater outlier is the last year as opposed to the year removed.

*edit... you were a DBA? Poor you!

Depends on your definition of 'easy'.
