I rewatched the game over the past 2 nights, 2nd half last night and just kept replaying his goal over and over. I made Mr GL watch as well and he was waxing lyrical about it!
One thing that I certainly missed when watching it unfold from the Paxton-end was his footwork in controlling and moving the ball. Impressive.
Just everything about the goal - the run from the edge of the penalty box, taking on players, the control, and of course the superb finish - was sublime.
 
Bizarrely VDV has a great crossfield pass on him but hardly ever uses it.
He's strangely very conservative with his passing, rarely attempts to break lines or use that cross field ball. He's much more willing to run with it and even then he doesn't use that ability as much as you think he could. It's probably the CB in him that stops him from possibly taking undue risk while in possession.

It has been overlooked by pretty much every critic who stated that it was all down to speed and strength.
