Next Spurs Manager

Wel'll we need a new squad in two years when Jose moves on and the dressing room is in an uproar.

I’d take that over getting spanked by Bayern, humiliated by Brighton and sodomised by Colchester any day of the week.

And I say that as someone who is intensely sceptical of Mourinho.

The one attraction of Jose I see has probably been said already but he was linked with much of our squad during his United tenure so indications are there he more or less sees us as the best squad available le for his time philosophy

Which manager would be more likely to win the FA cup, Mourinho or Poch? Simple answer in my book, and the rest follows from that. Managers are paid to win, and Poch's win record in 2019 is woeful.

He won 2 pots with the worst Utd team in 30 years

I'm not arguing with his record. He spends a lot and brings in pots. I'm questioning how long it has been since he turned a player into a winner, I cannot think of one since his first spell at Chelsea.

I do question whether his methods would work at Spurs, whether he would get the resources he needs, whether he could work with Levy, whether he still has it and if the price is worth paying. The football would be brick, we might as well close the academy and he'd leave the club in a worse position than it is now in two years time.

I think players at Inter would qualify. Id have to take a look at the squad second time at Chelsea to pick the bones there.

Even at Utd the like of McTomminay came up and while he doesnt look amazing Id say he has the right stuff attitude wise.

I don't think he wasted it..... Liverpool finished the season about 15 gazillion points ahead of us and had beaten us twice already. I completely disagreed with the decision to recall Kane for Moura (especially as it would've meant there was no way Kane could be on the pitch if it went to penalties) but that CL final wasn't 'wasted', we just weren't quite good enough to get the job done over a team who were better than us that season and still better than us now.

Liverpool were there for the taking!
We just weren’t there!

Totally agree.

Though I have reservations about Howe he would at least be able to work with youth players.

Crazy really, i bought that thought up many times and got told that we do not lack anything. Proof is in the pudding or so they say.[/QUOTE

Exactly, they were. Yet that group of players couldn't get themselves up for possibly the game of their careers.
Said before and I'll never tire of saying it, if you need to be motivated fora CL final you should not be there.
If you cannot put behind you any gripes you have with a manager or team mates for 90 minutes even if its for you're own personal glory you should not be professional sportsman.
END OF.
If people are really saying that they weren't motivated and it's because of the manager I can only assume they have an agenda.

In all the semi-finals and finals Spurs have lost over the years, i cannot see why people use it as a point to talk about "lack of motivation".
We weren't playing some mid-table cloggers, we were playing Liverpool who if not for City's brilliance had won our league at a canter. This idea that we would have won "if only we were more motivated" is spurious at best.

There may be far more obvious examples of big games we've lost when one might question the players' mentality/bottle etc, but i think the Liverpool CL final would be way down the list imo

I was at that game and I stand by this... the heat in Madrid and a huge impact on both sides and so did the BIG gap between their last competitive games. Add in an appealing referee call 1 minute in and the factors against were massive

Surely all the more reason to raise your game?
That after all what playing in the CL is all about isn't it. That what's say when they want a move to a CL regular, it's not about that money, it's about a chance to put myself against the best.
I have to say that I do agree with you I don't think they looked unmotivated, I think they lacked belief. And thay is the big issue in this squad, there's probably only four that truly believe they are good enough.

Did we play much worse than at any stage in the months leading up to the game though?
I think actually it was Liverpool who didn't play their usual game, almost like they said "actually, let's play this like Jose would, not like how we normally would..."

Samuel Eto'o on José Mourinho: "He left me on the bench for a month and made me warm up in injury time. In his head, he was pricking me to make me his own. He wanted me to recover my best level. And I did. We won everything. We had a team of 11 warriors, we won differently."

You are totally right on both points, and that is what I'm saying.
I don't believe they were not motivated, and that's being thrown at poch "he can't motivate them". You shouldn't fudging need motivation to go out and win the biggest game of your career. He shouldn't need to motivate them, and if they can't get up for that game they can fudge right off.
Liverpool were poor, we were team trying to play football, but we had no confidence. The nature of our q/f and s/f wins didn't help here, I suspect a few of them felt we were lucky to be there and that luck wouldn't carry us over the line. The dubious early penalty knocked that confidence even more.
You would hope that one of them would have stood up and said "right fudge it, we have nothing to lose, let's get stuck in". Instead we retreated into our shell.
There is a problem with mentality in this squad, it's obvious and has been for a while.
It looked like we were going to get away with it and paper over it until it was sorted, but alas things have conspired against us.

Both sides struggled in the heat to put any decent play together. You can still have cracking games if teams attack but both sides were quite conservative with both knowing each other so well
This years final will be worse with 40 degree heat

If people are really saying that they weren't motivated and it's because of the manager I can only assume they have an agenda.

Yes, I have an agenda. My team got a bloody champions league final, the first and maybe last in my lifetime and were sterile and flat.
Other than the Palace game not much has changed. Brighton game defies description.

I was getting on board the Jose train but I've just jumped off.

So what's your agenda?
Do you really think it's right that a professional sportsman gets to the biggest occasion and in his career and needs someone else to motivate him, really, you're happy with happy that?
You don't think that that shows a weakness in those/that player?
And let me it say it again, I do not think they weren't motivated, what I do think is that this has now become a narrative being passed around for whatever reason.
Did anyone at the time say they looked unmotivated?

My agenda? Fecked if I know[emoji6]

Something is wrong !
We can’t sell all the players!
So Pochettino regrettably look like he has to go!
Brighton was the last straw for me!

Replacement?
Sadly I can’t see past Mourinho ATM
But what do I know?
