Mocking a disability deserves and smack in the gob as a minimum. Good humour is never cruel. I don't particularly like Smith, but good on him. Just disappointing it was an open rather than a closed fist.

Can you educate me, as i’d understood it to be a hair loss condition / disease rather than a disability.

Baldness is a reality for many but are you implying those afflicted are disabled?

In UK law I think a disability is anything that has a significant physical or mental effect on you, which lasts for longer than a year.

Doesn’t really matter what the joke was, Smith shouldn’t have hit anyone.

he should have better self control.
I think there’s a line, if you joke about someone’s decision making or life choices then it’s fair game for jokes I’d say, but if you start taking the tinkle out of medical conditions, things people can’t do anything about then it’s pretty C@nty!

Of course Smith shouldn’t have slapped him, but he’s every right to be upset, I think he didn’t quite realise what was said straight away and was politely laughing along, then it computed and the blood boiled. Sounds like Rock and Jada have history anyway, so like poking a bear.

someone mentioned Gervais earlier, as far as I know he draws that same line as I’ve just done.

you can take the tinkle out of medical conditions, but don't take the tinkle out of people suffering from them

shame we didn't get a close up of Chris Rocks face afterwards, I bet there were fresh prints

Your “argument” is proposed seriously? So getting molested as a child has a long lasting mental effect, you’d label those victims of abuse as disabled? How about getting a tattoo? Permanent physical effects. What you have posted is ridiculous.

Labelling things that aren’t disabilities as disabilities is much more offensive then a joke will ever be.

Comedy is a fine line, but making fun of someone is legal. Assaulting someone because your feelings (or more relevantly your partners) were hurt is not as far as I understand it.

Agree with that. But was will smith just slow to compute or did he find it funny till he saw his wifes face, then computed that he had to show he was angry about it?

The real scandal of the night was how did CODA win. It was alright in a low-budget Disney B movie sort of way but the best film, nah?

RG made a joke about the same thing in The Office, actually more direct about it by mentioning alopecia

It's a weird one this. I think the joke was brick anyway.

But she has come out in interviews saying it had caused her mental distress and i think mentioned suicide. So rock was a bit out of order. As said she can't control it.

Then again, i've little sympathy for her. Ok you have to shave your head. You're still a good looking woman that has a life most of us can't even dream about. Dunno if it's permanent or not, but goi g to the media looking for sympathy? Sorry but no.

I was thinking more stand up routines rather than fictional sitcoms with made up characters and scenarios, but maybe he has crossed that line in stand ups/presenting monologues as well, idk?

I just think it was a dingdong move by Rock, followed by a stupid emotional move by Smith.
