Politics, politics, politics (so long and thanks for all the fish)

I think he is the most normal in all honesty, seems the most impacted by life an has the same conflictions and thoughts as everyone else. If anything is odd its the hard exteriors of all is fine and nothing is a worry.

He'd be working checkouts in Lidl if this country were a meritocracy. Probably happy living in Rochdale with 8 kids and a wife called Mands.

He has a chip on the shoulder clear as day. Does not want to be Royal but keeps the title and trades on it. Wants his privacy but writes books talking about family issues.

I would disband the royals but he is a wrongun that sums up so many of that generation, moany weirdo who does not realise how easy he has got it.

Bloke falls in love with woman and picks her over family, oldest story in time.......

My opinion for sure won’t be a popular one but as far as I am concerned the Office for Budget Responsibility might as well be called the Office for Economic Pause and Stagnation

It naively treats a nation state like an individual person.

Been 15 years of following it and fudge all has grown. I won’t hold my breath another 15 either.

Bin it off and start making real investments in society that can jump start the economy.

Nothing wrong in that at all.

Bloke wants privacy but constantly does TV interviews and writes books like a reality TV star. Bloke turns down being a royal, good on him. But keeps royal titles.

Bloke says he won't be safe in UK but family own massive estates he can stay at.

Bloke says he is leaving UK as it racist to move to the racial harmony of America!!!

Guy is a chancer do different to Dave in my local. Difference is Dave ain't asking for money(most weeks)

I think and always believed there is a massive difference between choosing what you put out and peoples rights to the rest of your private life. I don't think for example what people put on their FB entitles anyone to more and almost stalkerish actions.

I have said it before, I would never go up to someone famous with their family regardless of how much they are out there and that I admire them because I think there is a line, I think that regardless of how much they choose to put themselves out there in public.

Prince Harry in "not wanting tabloids to hack his voicemails" shocker, what a cretin.

Doesn't he realise that if you write a book, you give away any rights to privacy for having the audacity to share your story.

Proper odd why people are so bothered about Harry and Megan, it's always a certain type...

I despise him but he does make me laugh

He has been kind enough to say that he doesn't think he will invade Canada but might do Greenland.

He has kindly said he will not seek a third term. How generous of him to avoid his pathological need to break the law for a change.

He doesn't know whether its his responsibility the o uphold the US consitution or not because he's not a lawyer and they deal with that.

(Tbf he didn't actually place his hand on the bible once so I guess he has that as an out)

And that smile. He's like a satire Preisdent.

I just cannot believe this guy actually exists

The OBR do not provide advice to the government on economic policy. They provide independent analysis of the impact government policy will likely have on the economy and provide forecasts based on current policy. It's ultimately down to the government whether they adjust course based on their reports. And that rather depends on government policy. Starmer and Reeves have created their own set of fiscal rules the cornerstone of which is that they will not borrow to fund "day-to-day" government spending. What that means is that if the OBR says "your current policies are going to lead to a significant budget deficit", they're going to have to take action.

Current OBR projection is that the budget deficit for 2024/25 was £20.7 billion more than 2023/24 and £14.6 billion above forecast. I repeat this is simply a projection of how far short the government's tax take at year end will fall short of how much they've spent and therefore how much the government is going to have to borrow.

So it isn't the OBR that is advising that further austerity measures and/or further tax rises will be necessary, it's Rachel Reeve's self inflicted rules overlaid on OBR forecasts that will dictate the policy....

Thanks for the clarification

Personally I have been extremely underwhelmed by Starmer. I am quite further left than him and was never expecting to be significantly impressed by him. But so far he’s done the equivalent of FA

He’d carried on the exact same trajectory and actually made more cuts…

Moved to Wales recently so couldn’t vote but had I been able to it would have been the first time I’d Green and not voted Labour.

After 15 years of doing nothing and gaining nothing (probably declining) I don’t see the status quo getting us anywhere at all. Stuff needs to be done differently. Even classical austerely advocated would never propose it as a good idea long term…

In his interview with NBC, the president emphasized that he’s not predicting that American consumers will see empty store shelves, but rather that he’s merely trying to close the trade deficit with Ch

“No, I’m not saying that,” he said when asked about whether he was expecting shortages. “I’m just saying they don’t need to have 30 dolls. They can have three. They don’t need to have 250 pencils. They can have five.”

“We don’t have to waste money on a trade deficit with China for things we don’t need, for junk that we don’t need.”

Hope Trump doesn't have to cut down on his Sharpie's!
