Racism in football

You all know my views on fans. I have met some lovely people at football matches. I use a wheelchair which may skew this view somewhat.
But sadly the English based fans are zombies. Not so many in Russia which has been refreshingly different and pleasant. I never saw that coming.

I agree with you there.
Racism is prejudice or discrimination - Alan sugar did neither of those things.

It is offensive and degrading them as sports men and belittling their achievements, but not racist.

He deserved calling out on being a taco.

Exactly, the women in my office are suddenly proclaiming how interested they are in watching Morocco, Egypt etc.
 
Pleasing to see the Russians are behaving in this world cup, noting our own England fans are never completely behaved. Any news reports coming out about fans fighting? Seems to be a trend of assuming a world cup will be a brickshow until it starts and everything goes down fine.

I went to South Africa and there was barely a bar fight let alone a hooligan incident, hijacking or murder. I'd be amazed if a few people didn't lose their wallet or watch in Rio in 2014 but thats normal.

Perhaps you have been lucky enough to escape racism so you can now belittle others who have been victims of it. To be called a paki bastard and told to F—-off back to your own country kind of makes you sensitive to racism, maybe a little “precious” as you put it. Stereotyping as Sugar has done here is a form of racism like jokes about the Irish being bombers and Muslims being terrorists. Lucky for you you can be blasé about it.

"Sticks and stones will brake my bones but names will never hurt me" Nothing blase about it mate and i see no one who has belittled anyone in this thread, unless as you say some are being "precious".
 
Saw an interesting post today on Instagram in which it showed the England team in a world of no immigration. Funny how the Brexit idiot phalanx conveniently forget that when they follow the national team.
 
Racism is a terrible thing born out of ignorance and fear, unfortunately it is in every society where the outside is seen as a threat. Many try to hide behind nationalism as in this nation where 4 countries show animosity to each other and regions. Around the world you see tribal and ethnic hatred, it appears its a fault in us all. I personally feel it suits the ruling classes to have groups the majority can look down on and vent their spleen on rather than the parasites who are screwing us all.
