Sir Christopher Lee RIP

Does this mean he's not eligible for the Europa?

All jokes aside, an absolute icon. RIP old man.

What was the point in people denying his death? It's not as if he's a royal. They do it, to get the protocol right.
Apparently his wife wanted to inform family members before making the news public (and I'm guessing some family member may have been travelling or "out of contact" for some reason). Hence the delay. Not so much "denial" as "postponement for a good reason".

Well, OP had the info ... nice the Meejah held back to allow for the family to get the word out personally to other family members.

Lets just say a lot of things of a confidential nature cross my path that would make amazing reading on this forum but I would never reveal because due to issues of confidentiality. The only reason I posted this was thread was because by 11:00 Monday evening I assumed because he was such a legend it was already all over the news but simply no one had started a thread. Alas, once I started the thread I realised to my embarrassment that the story had not been released.

And as I said earlier, if I was going to be a WUM it would not be about somebody's death, that is simply not the way I roll.

And embarrassingly I was not aware of that until after I had posted the story else I would have kept my gob shut

I hoped you were wrong but didn't disbelieve you. What made me think you may be right is the so called "agent" who denied it. I've had dealing with someone claiming to be sir Christopher's agent and I think he was a sham

exactly, you don't wanna find out your dad/grandad/uncle died by reading it in a paper

Not sure if I should be proud that I didn't spend Monday wondering what odds I could have got on a death pool or ashamed that I'm now trying to work out whether or not I regret not doing so.

No unfortunately not mate - only visited the home once myself (it's in Enfield borough - won't be more specific :)) but only met the old Greek dears leaning on my father in law .

Fam met him and he apparently had a sparkle in his eyes but unfortunately the dementia was pretty set in (again without being overly specific). Horrible illness.

I met christopher Lee once. I was working on a Computer game and he was doing the narration. So we was filming him in a studio on a Fancy chair over blue screen. He was very very knowledgeable. He picked apart the script all day, pointing out errors that should be changed. he also constantly suggested better way to say the lines. He was very very professional and afterwards a nice guy to talk to. Always liked Christopher lee after that.
