I thought a tree had fallen in the backyard or something, was bloody loud and felt like the whole house shook from it. But yes seems it was felt from Cambridge all the way through to parts of London and Essex, mad!
 
Pretty sure it was a sonic boom like you say, had similar about 18 months ago and that was confirmed to be a Typhoon intercepting an airliner.

I’ve written about 100 for friends and colleagues
I see so many examples it’s quite scary (and happy to share mine with you if you want)
Only issue you have it’s your own job and I’ve seen some classics where people come up with some cracking language for their own job

So a Stansted plane interception I assume

Stansted is where they land intercepted planes
I’ve heard nothing form work about it though and I work with the kinda people who would know

I knew some directors at Stansted hence I knew a little about their airport being the emergency landing point for the whole of the UK

I’ll add that my mate when on call there had at least one emergency interception a day. Most were set as alarms so he had to call in but the majority were sorted by ATC
 
So my immuno compromised clinically vulnerable father contracted Covid 10 days ago. Mild symptoms till I got a call at 5am this morning. His fever was raging and the old dear panicked. I went over with the mask on as they aren't fluent enough to manage the 111 call or use the website so needed me there.

His temp was so high but 111 were like either call an Ambulance, which will be a long wait and hospitals are rammed or try stronger painkillers. So I got him soluble co codamol and a damp cloth for his forehead. An hour later his temp was 37.8 and Sats were a solid 98. Got him in to bed and convinced the old dear she needs to sleep too. Popped back at 11am and he was at 38.5 and told him to keep drinking fluids and resting.

He feels much better now. I'm kind of glad we didn't go the ambulance route as he seems OK now. But it was weird as I kind of had to make a decision and went with what I thought was best and I'm hardly qualified.

All is better now. But I'm emotionally and physically exhausted.

Fortunately I have a benevolent employer and I was able to send a text saying I'm not around for the day as got family stuff to sort. Helps so much.

Anyway, what a fekin day lol

Yeah, I meant intended destination of the aircraft.

Hope all is OK. It sounds like you made the right choice. As long as his breathing is OK it's worth trying to get the temperature down through paracetemol or equivalent (not that I'm qualified either!) rather than go the ambulance route - that's probably what they'd say when they got there anyway.
Hope he is on the road to recovery now.
