a little harsh on the rest of humanity
We can’t set our own taglines here, so I’ll have to save that one for an epitaph.
a little harsh on the rest of humanity
Interesting. Is it only paid for the first 25 days or whatever? Then "no pay"... or is it that you have to pay your employerMy company have just announced they are removing annual leave allowance limits from next year. If you need leave, you can take it (with manager's approval). No more counting days/eking out leave to year end etc.

Argh. That's tough but at least you are getting paid. Your hope for new variant is a little harsh on the rest of humanity though.
I'm a bit scared of you nowI must admit, I hadn’t realised that the OMT gods lurked in Random, nor that they were quite so obliging.
A-ha, I guess I skipped over the bit that says "with manager's approval".All paid.

So you are likely to find a manager that keeps a very firm lid on it.
But it would be funny if a manager was annoyed/leaving and wanted to just blow things up and sign off 200 days of paid leave... how the hell did you allow that to happen?! You are in HR I think? One rogue manager could let their whole team have the year off, paid.
I’ve started not working on Fridays. Health reasons, and I’m a contractor so it’s pretty much up to me if I want a 20% invoicing haircut. Anyway, it’s very difficult.
To do it properly, work comms need to be disconnected from all devices (leaving only SMS or phone calls for emergencies), so that’s emails, Teams notifications and lots else to disable every week. I also need to cut myself off from external information which is relevant to my role. That’s about half of the internet. Otherwise, it’s impossible not to do my job.
I’m looking forward to being well enough to do 60 hours, bill 40, and do what I enjoy rather than spending time doing nothing, which isn’t really fun.
I must be doing contracting wrong then as I'm paid for 7 hours a day and do not a minute more or lessWhy would you work 60 hours but bill 40? Can't you just bill what you work. For teams and emails (if you use Outlook mobile app) you can have schedules that mute all notifications between certain times or on certain days.
Keep trying mate. It'll happen.I can’t get a job and I don’t care anymore.

Haha fair enoughI enjoy the work and I’m trying to justify a larcenous day rate.
Hope she is ok mateyThe mother in law who is like a mother to me an amazing woman, is sick. She lives in England now over from Ireland 7 years ago.
She has lost a stone and a half in 3 weeks, blood tests have come back negative. We are taking her for a scan at worthing hospital next week. The way she is walking it is not looking good.
The wife said to me this morning "soon we will be the oldest generation"
To be expected that your parents go before you but it is a horrible time.
