The London Taxpayers' Stadium Shambles

My WH mate says a big part of the issue is the security. Many of the new stewards (is the outsourced ones that didn't steward UP) are also bouncers and totally unequipped for policing football.

It will be an interesting story to follow all-round.
As easy, and fun, as it is to laugh at it - it should also serve as a warning and if it is nothing more than aBrady plan to sanitise the customers we might want to think about showing some solidarity.
Yes they have a load of tacos that still think the ICF is a thing, but it does, and will continue to, encroach on decent fans.
We are already at a position where we cannot stand..... like it's a night at the opera.

But for now...... bring the popcorn

West Ham may have to wait until December for police to patrol inside the London Stadium on match days despite the club demanding the presence of officers at their new home.

The Hammers met stadium owners E20 yesterday after fans clashed during Saturday’s 4-2 home defeat by Watford and called for a police presence in the ground during matches.

But Standard Sport understands it could be more than two and a half months before that happens because parts of the former Olympic Stadium do not have the technology officers need to communicate with each other.

E20 employ stadium operators LS 185, who are responsible for security on match days. The decision to install Airwave radio across the ground has only recently been taken by LS 185 and may not be fully operational until the match with Arsenal on December 3 — the first game that is considered a high‑risk fixture. The Metropolitan Police will not routinely deploy officers until there is comprehensive Airwave radio coverage throughout the ground.

In a statement released to Standard Sport this morning, Metropolitan Police Deputy Assistant Commissioner Peter Terry, Specialist Crime and Operations, said: “The stadium operators are responsible for the safety and comfort of their customers and staff. This includes disorderly behaviour that has not reached the level of criminality.

“The Metropolitan Police Service will fulfil its legal responsibilities in relation to dealing with matters of criminality. The MPS is not able to provide Special Policing Services at this time as it would normally, as there is no satisfactory radio system across the ground.

“This issue was highlighted to the stadium operators in October 2014 and the MPS has been in negotiation with stadium operators regarding the provision of Airwave radio inside the stadium. During this time, the MPS had spoken to the stadium operators several times to highlight the consequences of not installing such a system.

“Until there is comprehensive Airwave radio coverage throughout the ground officers will not be routinely deployed within it under a Special Services agreement. The stadium operators have only very recently agreed to install a satisfactory radio system.”

It is understood that fully installing Airwave could not take place until work to convert the Olympic Stadium into West Ham’s new ground had finished.

Police can be deployed inside the stadium in the event of a serious incident, as they were when fans clashed on Saturday.

Police do have a presence outside the stadium and monitor the whole of the Olympic Park from a control room outside the ground. Under Premier League rules, clubs are not obliged to have police inside the stadium.

West Ham are also pushing for a radical reform of the stewarding which has been heavily criticised by supporters.

A club statement read: “Whilst West Ham United do not hold the safety certificate or control the security at the stadium, the club is doing everything possible within its jurisdiction to help provide a safe and enjoyable environment for all supporters.”

That West Ham statement. "We're doing everything we can that won't cost us anything, like moaning about it."

Not difficult to imagine this escalating, even to the level of their being threatened with a points deduction if they just sit on their hands.

It's a difficult situation for West Ham the 25 year contract was awarded to Vinci by E20 StadiumLLP a partnership of Newham Council and London Legacy Development Corporation, so I imagine they must deal with them first about anything they feel is wrong with the service provided by one of their contractors. The segregation issue may also be something that was not included in the original works proposed in the stadium fit out. I cannot believe that there were no provisions for a workable communication system fitted if the police did raise this issue in 2014.

If things do not get sorted quickly it will probably impact on the Westfield Shopping Centre and have people avoiding it on matchdays. Big hitters in there will not tolerate losing money at the weekends.

Just about everything possible is going wrong in 'the most successful stadium migration in history'.

Westfields put the barriers up when we play, but they have more trouble with the locals than they get with us, recently had gangs chasing each other around with knives before a film screening at their cinema, without the trouble they have had at the casino, which resulted in it being closed for a while.

Westfield put the barrier up full-time during match days because some fans started throwing bottles at it when they weren't allowed into the Cow.

West Ham fans throwing bottles? Well I never...

They are going to have to modify the Premier League computer's fixture scheduler next year to take into account us not playing at home the same time as Arsenal.

It was only Watford but many of them coming in from Euston came via Highbury and Islington. After the match there were some verbals between Watford and Arsenal fans, but clearly a flashpoint when any of the Northern clubs come to play us. 22nd October could be interesting - we're at home to Sunderland the same time that Arsenal are at home to Middlesbrough!

They will both get moved but the fixture list has Arsenal at home to Man Utd the same time that we are home to Spurs!

Having jumped on the wrong train at Upminster, which took me to Stratford instead of where I wanted to go (West Ham), I thought I would have another look around Westfield. Never again. What an unpleasant time that was. A heaving mass of shoppers mixed in with quite a large number of fans milling about. Its probable that one day something disastrous will occur there probably when one of our London neighbours come calling. Didn't see one police officer there. Some urgent action is needed to improve security not only in the stadium but in the surrounding areas too.

I reckon Madam Brady saw the runaway success of Banksys 'Dismaland' and just decided to supersize it.

?

And those tossers wonder why none of them have jobs.....

Did they shrink in the wash? WTF?

So, you're the head of a big-time corporation thinking about paying the for the naming rights to the stadium.

Or, more correctly, were thinking about paying for them naming rights. Who in their right mind would want their business identity attached to this perpetual slow-motion crash? Arms dealers?

It's already fun to see WH so close to the relegation zone. Having Millwall - promotion chasing already - in there next season would be hysterically good fun.

Couldn't afford season ticket this year. So, as Academy members I entered the stupid ballot system so I could take my young son to his first west ham home match. Was 'successful' and got two seats in STB Lower in 125 section for the Watford match. As it stands (no pun intended) you are given what you get so I was with my son not too far from the away fans. I thought, well its Watford so won't be too lairy. I did initially call WHU ticket office and ask if I could get seats elsewhere but that is when they said 'no chance'. Even though I spotted lots of empty seats when at the match on Saturday!
There are so many issues with the whole set up there at the moment for match days (fan segregation, security) but I want to focus on the aspect of a need for a large family /older people area and that once it is set up, seats for non ST holders be made available too so they can hopefully enter the stupid ballot system just for that area.
I'm all for standing and for sitting in areas to be established. It should have been a like for like transition of seating and fan type arrangements from the old ground to the new one. My son might start off with me as a young 'sitter' and then as he gets older might want to move over to a standing area.
At the moment all my son remembers from Saturday is not the match but asking why there were people fighting, children crying and why there were large groups of people in hi-vis jackets surrounding fans in parts of the stadium.

We all remember as a kid the first time we step inside our grounds, i will never forget that day when i first saw the Lane ( over 50 years ago). My lad still remembers the first time i took him to the Lane and he still goes on about it ( 30 years later). The sad thing i heard over the W/E was a Spammers fan who took both of his kids to their first game and they were where all the trouble happened. He said they were crying and have told him they never want to go again. :(

Mine still remembers our first trip - he got me a posh box for my 60th - nice food.

I am on the standers side in this argument (not condoning the fighting but does take two to tango) - once you sit down you will never get back up.

There were recognised areas in their old ground that stood, they were told when they moved they would be in a comparable area. The club did not set up a family area, they moved people from traditional sitting areas into the Standing area, they are selling kids tickets in there.

If the same thing happens with Park Lane with our rebuild I think there will be similar situation.

The argument is terms and conditions state that there is no Standing however this is not uniformly enforced. I am pretty sure that terms state no bad language and probably aggressive behavior but if you take the passion out of the game you are not left with a lot.

I don't think it was done by accident, think Brady is trying to move towards the Arsenalfication of the support, quiet and spend a lot.

There are loads of other things wrong with the stadium, actually feel sorry for the support as majority didn't want to move and it will only get worse once they realize how bad it is. Their owners are a bunch of *****, always after the cheap option rather than correct.

You try telling that to our away support & Park Lane lower - and you then listen to the difference in atmosphere at the games.

In life there are loads of rules that people disregard as they are unsuitable / unjust etc.
