The London Taxpayers' Stadium Shambles

"While the seats are described as "retractable", in fact the job of moving the seats is largely manual. Rather than sliding on wheels or airbeds as at the Stade de France, the stands are effectively demountable structures that have to be broken up and shifted by hand. The problem is complicated by the fact that the original seat contractor, Alto Seating Solutions, has gone into liquidation."

W*nkers. Sounds like they bid for the work, promising cheap, cheap pricing. Did a terrible job judging by those photos of scaffolds with seats perched atop, levelled by blocks of wood... undercut every other bidder, win the work, do it cheap, then go into liquidation and leave a mess for everyone else.

I really think there should be a public/judicial enquiry!

Just give me a million quid and I'll write a report on the back of a cigarette packet, it will take me 5 minutes, saving both time and money and motivate as much action to resolve the problem (what problem). There can only be a public/judicial enquiry once everyone involved with the fiasco are either retired or dead. The great and the good are totally blameless as usual.

We need to get Boris in the dock.

They're entrepreneurs, it's what make this country great.

For this or the new routemaster bus with the added cost of the open back that is never open as they can't afford the staff. Or the nearly new water cannons that are illegal to use, or the cable car that commuters will use going nowhere to nowhere

Side note pretty sure West ham donated around 12k to the tory party. Not the owners but the actual club

Criticism of the routemaster bus? Not having that, being able to get on and off is great plus they are a London symbol. Boris got that one right for sure...

Things may change in the future. A new, rich owner for WH (though hard to see how/why that would be attractive right now) could offer loads of money to get things changed and some loophole would no doubt be found.

Ffs. They're gonna demolish it and build a new stadium twenty metres north of the current site and claim it's a brand new stadium aren't they?
