The Official 2020/21 Premier League Thread

Really is deja vu with Brighton. Play well, create chances, don't take them, and then get punished, rinse and repeat.

Yet still the manager doesn’t try a different approach.

Like Norwich last season, naive in the extreme, only have themselves to blame if they drop into the relegation zone.

Disagree, they are a much better side than Norwich. A combination of poor finishing and bad luck is the difference between them being a midtable team and where they are now.
Against Utd alone they hit the woodwork 5 times, can't blame Potter on that finishing. I can't remember them being beaten by more than 1 goal more than a couple of times this season and they are mostly low-scoring games, small margins.

To be fair, it’s exactly what I’d expect from Guardiola in that situation too.

The game of football is a sandbox, whether you play tiki taka or catenaccio it’s all football, the customers can have their preference, yet this is merely subjective, all systems are equally valid but results are ultimately all that matter.

And yet some think he’s the man to take us forward. Beggars belief.
If you look a little beyond the results, watch their games, style of football, and how their results and position don't reflect how they've played.
There are games that they've had over 20 shots on goal yet failed to score. The performances rather than the results are why some believe he
has the makings of a top manager.

If he changes his approach, goes defensive, resulting in fewer shots on goal do you really think their results are likely to improve?
And defense has not been their problem, mid-table for goals conceded.
