The Official 2021/22 Premier League Thread

Disagree on us, we would have come back stronger next season by virtue of having Conte and the progress he has made since coming in part way to the season.
We would have had Conte, but a hell of a time making the signings he wants. Both because of no CL and much less money to spend.

It should not happen, but you are right, if any could f#ck this up from this position, it's us. Finishing 3rd behind them by not getting just 1pt from Soton(h) and Saudi Sportswashing Machine(a) still hurts.

Didn't we beat them 2-3 at their place?

Ignore that just read that back this morning. Sorry was a bit tired and emotional last night :D

As much as I loved the result last night, the pessimist inside me doesn't want to tempt fate by laughing too soon.

But, I would laugh my gonads off if Southampton did a job tonight and then Leicester also did on Thursday - that is just too much to contain.

So apparently if this happens:

- City lose to Villa
- Pool get 4 points from their two games
- Pool scores 7 goals morw than City
- Pool lets in as many goals as City do against Villa

Then both teams will end up with equal points, goals scored and goals conceeded. Since both matches betweeen them ended 2-2, this would mean a rematch to decide who wins the title.

Basically a fourth cup final for Liverpool.

If that were to happen (and they win CL), what's the betting it gets spun as a quintuple, as they'd have won a final play-off as well.

A play off would need a neutral venue though.

May I suggest Mariupol?
