Probably something to do with ESPN and Showtime not being able to negotiate something soon enough, this could be a reoccurring issue with these guys all on their own broadcast deals now.

The WBC still expect it to happen, for what it's worth.

His stock is high now in the US and thats why they have given him this deal, but because he has the deal for x fights in x months he will want to win a few before entering a rematch which in theory he should command a fairer split, although the WBC has said he deserves a fairer split.

With AJ fighting Miller he won't lose too much traction either. I think its a smartish move, just frustrating for the fans
 
So AJ Miller ain't happening, as Miller has been done for juicing.

I wonder if AJ can keep a straight face when he has to act all outraged at that haha. If AJ is natty then so was Ronnie Coleman...
 
Also agree with people who are saying how phucking idiotic Miller has been -- biggest payday of his life, all he had to do was turn up and get beat, and he goes and fails the drug test. He'll never see that kind of money again (think it was $6m?)

So going on what he said last night, Dillian Whyte would be happy to step in to the Joshua fight as he's already in training. Hearn however prefers that he fights on his own card in July, in what seems like little more than a treading-water fight.

Anyone but Whyte, eh Eddie?
 
So who do people reckon will get wheeled out as Joshua's opponent?

The Ortiz business sounds quite bizarre and doesn't put him in a great light, but who knows what really went on there. Personally I'm not sure who it'll be, but I think someone like Manuel Charr would be a very Hearn-style call in this situation. We'll see.
 
To be honest I have two train of thoughts on Ortiz

Miller was getting 5m which means Ortiz should get more, salvage the card which is AJs first in the US, better fighter, shorter notice, asked to change his own plans.

The second is that he is out of comp and would fail a drugs test.

Hearns not done AJ any favours with the past negotiations, people are put off and won't be reeled out for AJ to take all the spoils, I think Hearn needs a semi decent name or the US will turn on AJ early on, MSG and DAZN with no real live opponent. Boo central.
 
Depends what you believe on the numbers though. I agree Ortiz should be paid better than Miller, but I heard it suggested he turned down $7 million, which would've comfortably ticked that box...again, who knows how true any of this is?

Personally I'd see that fight going a similar way to Wilder-Ortiz anyway; I'd expect Ortiz to make AJ look limited early on with his boxing skills but for AJ to eventually overpower him with blunt force, much as Wilder did. Ortiz is a very slick boxer but he's neither overly powerful nor durable.

Think I heard sky asking Barry Hearn for confirmation that it was Andy Ruiz a minute ago (he didn't confirm), so that could be a likely outcome.
