The transfer thread

I like Kinsky but we didn't need him. Austin. Was good enough.

We need to trust some players.

If the manager trusted Austin we wouldn't have had Forster on the books and Austin would have made his debut for us long before he did.
He clearly, in the manager's opinion, wasn't good enough

This all has a feel of when we ended up with Ange after being turned down time again by other managerial targets (according to the press obviously) just moving down a list until one says yes

Terminal decline is a bit harsh, last 6 seasons: 4th 6th 7th 4th 8th 5th - so no real trend of decline, more up & down. The issue is the performance this season
Honestly bro watching this team I've felt it's a decline with some fleeting uplifts. I can't lie and say I ever believed in this side during the Mou or Conte eras. Maybe I'm just harsh (and yes I know I am 😅) but for me we've been drifting away from the solidly top 4 standard that we had ourselves established as.

Maybe terminal is a bit strong because even I believe we can come out recently on the other side if we can survive this season and fix the management issue but I don't believe we will. We rarely ever make timely decisions.

Ange doesn't rate him, it's super obvious. Last season when we had Romero and VDV out he pulled for Royal and Davies. He doesn't think he's ready.
this is the point I am making above.

I feel Ange does not trust young players in defensive positions. And please dont put Gray in my face. he has been forced to play him.
He didnt trust Spence, Wont play Reggie, Wont play the young Defenders. its a trend.

I agree. The younger players who have played are those who've had a lot of games under their belt.

Just wondering who all these clubs are who are competing for Europe or in European competition that play a load of teenagers with naff all adult football experience? Genuinely wondering as you talk as if it's an Ange thing, who are all these PL bosses who do this? And Spence is 24, Reguilon is 28 so I'm not sure what trend exactly you're referring to. Manager rates some players and doesn't others, it's nothing new....

May have been covered here….

I know many are defending Levy (and I’m not here to bash him in particular)

But isn’t it Lange and Munn’s job to tee up transfers prior to windows so we know who’s keen to come to us? Isn’t that what the DOF/TD does?

This rejection fest on day 30 of the window reeks of desperation, incompetence, and a complete lack of preperation.

We are a basket case

sums up our season eloquently

...agreed. It is fair to also add the enormous rebuild we began in summer 2023, which had been necessary since 2018/19. All in all, a brickshow!

Doesn't mean he's right though. Austin has been pretty decent for a 3rd choice.

I've declined many jobs I initially had an interest in, but for various reasons I decided to stay, either because I didn't want to move, didn't fancy it after knowing more about the place and position etc. There are lots of reasons. They could have been open for a move initially, but changed their mind. I don't know the family situation of Tomori, but that could be a factor for instance.

Yeah but he never got a chance to show how capable he is, which hasn't been too bad at all.
He's had about 7 years on the training pitch to show that, and non of our managers have been convinced.
If you ain't good enough on the training pitch, you certainly ain't good enough to play league games!
Never seen a manager go "hmmm... That fella doesn't look to good in training, but we'll put him in the team, as he's probably much better when it matters."

That would hold a lot more weight if it was day 10 of the window - and we were trying to execute a plan. But knock backs at the end look like desperation. Think nightclub 2am….

As previously stated, it was apperent for everyone that players only would start being 'available' late in the window. It's always like that, and especially this year, with European games going until a couple of days ago. We could have been in contact long time ago, but been told to wait until CL/EL group stage is decided.
