Transfer Rumour Thread

But he would still demand a fee due to the money that Blackburn spent training him. I'm sure that I've read that in more than one place before. I think it's to protect clubs from having their better young players, the ones that they have often spent time and money on developing, don't get stolen for nothing (even if their contract has ended) and so the club will actually receive something.

I've seen something about this before, for lower league clubs, but not sure quite how much it is or who is exactly applies to..

If i recall correctly there was an alteration to the rule recently as well, as the amounts the clubs signing the players for had to pay in compensation was reduced...

Wait what? Why would you release Gomes on a free?

We have a two year option on his contract :-s

Wasn't sure about that, so why aren't we taking that option up already? seems weird wer'e letting his contract run down.

About Hoilet, I think it should be a very small fee Blackburn deserves, nothing like 6m iirc

Yeah players under the age of 24 I think the club get compensation.

Very little, read an article that linked him with Bayern Munich, that said they'd have to pay 600k or something...

We could have such a sexy savy transfer summer if we get it sorted....

Hoillett = Free Plays right wing left wing and can also play behind striker

Jan Vertonghen = 10m Can play Centre back, left back and defensive midfielder when needed

Adler = Free Can rebuild fitness and get some solid training under his belt and become a solid communicator in English ready to take the reigns from Big Bad Brad

Sell Gio Pienaar Bassong Bentley Jenas Gomes for whatever we can get for them

The striker situation is one that I'm not sure about at all, but with Adler Hoillett and Jan we'd sort out so many of our squad issues for such little funds it'd be unbelievable.

Chelsea have confirmed the signing of England Under 20 striker Daniel Sturridge on a four-year deal after his contract expired at Emirates Marketing Project.

Sportsmail revealed last month that the Blues had won the battle to sign the 19-year-old, but the two clubs have now confirmed the move after a tribunal agreed a fee, which has not been disclosed.

Sturridge was out of contract but not available on a Bosman free because he is under 24. City were thought to be seeking a ‘development fee’ of ?ú10million while Chelsea are understood to have offered ?ú3m.

Sturridge stunned City by demanding ?ú55,000 a week to sign a new contract at Eastlands, leaving Chelsea and Aston Villa to fight for his signature.

He made 16 Premier League appearances last season and scored four goals but Chelsea sporting director Frank Arnesen has been after him for three years.

City are thought to have made a claim for a down-payment in excess of ?ú5m, proposing that the remainder of the money came in performance-related instalments

I know he got a squad number, but I thought he was injured until April?

He's been using his time productively, though. He's invented a device made from a pop bottle and a bicycle pump that can lob a football into a skip, accurate at up to 30 yards under demonstration conditions. The device has more pace as well, so MKD are more than interested.

He's definitely been a good signing for them. They probably arent bothered because they are loaded, but I think City made a mistake letting him go

Without doubt. They've got a few but would help with their English requirement premier league rules.

Sturridge is actually out of contract next summer. He's getting frustrated at Chelsea with them playing him on the wing all the time, so he probably won't sign a new one unless there's a change of manager (not unlikely). After the Modric saga last summer, nothing would make me happier than to see us tapping up Sturridge this summer and giving Chelsea the choice of selling him to us or losing him for free the following year. Would definitely improve our chances of getting him if Chelsea aren't in the Champions League and we are, although that would mean hoping Arsenal get a top 4 spot unfortunately.

I dont see it with Sturridge - he is a decent player but a bit meh!!! His level is a Bolton or maybe Sunderland even Liverscum. The guy is WAAAAAAY too greedy

Again, he would cost more than ?ú600k if we were to buy him. The reason that Bayern would get him cheaper is that he would be moving to a foreign league, don't ask me why that makes a difference but apparently it does. I think I remember that we would have to pay nearer ?ú4m for his services.

Vertonghen will cost less than ?ú10m as he'll be in the last year of his contract. Looks an excellent player.

We won't get Adler now though. We could have got him on a pre-contract in January (as you can do this with a foreign club 6 months before the end of your contract), but it looks like he was waiting for a German club.

As mentioned above, Gomes is on a 4+2 year deal so we'll extend before we sell him (like we did with Pav, Stephen Kelly etc).

I would only release on a free, if he is creating bad harmony within the squad, because of his no game time. Really don't understand why Harry never loaned him out in January

I agree that he is a bit overrated. Still a talented player though and he can still improve.

I don't think we have much chance of signing him though. Can't see Chelsea willing to sell him to us and he sounds like he will be greedy in negotiations as well as on the pitch.

I'm really hoping we go for Vertonghen. His reputation is rising quickly though, those two good games against Manu will have made several clubs stand up and take notice. As we have seen in the past, players might still move for big money even though they only have a year left on their contracts. All depend on how stubborn Ajax are and how brave they are playing a waiting game.
